March 3 was the night for the rescheduled A New Day in Norwood forum on race relations and policing. 85 people joined the collaborative group of planners to talk about their experience of race in Norwood. Police Chief Kramer presented a five point plan for improving race relations and accountability, committed to integrating the Norwood police force, and introduced his plan to create a citizens advisory council of Norwood residents and business owners. If you're interested in joining the task force please email wkramer@norwoodpolice.org. Finally, the Norwood police force is hiring! If you know of good candidates who want to be part of making Norwood a better place to live have them email jhicks@norwoodpolice.org.
Next up: Walk The Wood. This event will be a time for those committed to a better Norwood to walk the neighborhood together.

Celebrating the Beauty Around Us

Beauty has been a guiding value of Lydia's House and it manifests itself in our space, our yard, and most profoundly in the women of our house. We were so grateful to have Juli Thompson, a professional photographer, join us on February 14 to capture the lives of the women of Lydia's House! The photographs she has taken of guests, events, and our house have been both useful and stunning. Visit our blog for more incredible photos.
Room at the Table
We have an open space at Lydia's House for a summer live in volunteer. This woman would help build community and join us in the daily work of hospitality: http://stlydiashouse.org/associate-program/
