You Have a New Text Message … From the Library!

Starting March 1, you can sign up to receive courtesy notices by text message sent directly to a cell phone.  Courtesy notices alert patrons when holds are ready, when MeLCat items have arrived, when items are about to be due, and when that due date has slipped past.  This is a great way to stay on top of all the library items you’ve borrowed!

If you don’t have an email address or don’t check your email regularly, text message notices are a great alternative.  You can receive text messages on your cell phone while you’re out and about, which makes them a great alternative to telephone notices.  Imagine that while you’re running errands, you get a text message that a hold is ready for pick-up, you can swing by the library and pick it up.

Ask the Circulation Desk staff how to sign up for text message notices.  All we need is your cell phone number and your cell phone service carrier.  You may want to check with your service provider to find out if text message rates due apply.
