Last Sunday was a fabulously full day. I left our congregational meeting tired, and encouraged, excited by the excitement I saw and heard in terms of our community life together. Above is a link to the video that I shared before the meeting - which highlights some of the successes and new things that we did in 2014, as well as asks questions about the future. Click on the picture to be redirected to the vide on youtube. Know that it's about 10 minutes long - so it's a commitment, and a fun one.
What do you think about the past year? What were successes for us to build upon in your opinion? What challenges lay before us in 2015? How will you be part of our response to them?
See you Sunday, if not before,

Practices • Connections • Devotional Readings
for this Holy Season
“Lent,” wrote Thomas Merton, “is not just a time for squaring conscious accounts: but for realizing what we had perhaps not seen before.” Lent is the most literary season of the liturgical year. The Lenten narrative is marked by violence, suffering, anticipation, and finally, joy. Jesus Christ’s 40 days of fasting in the desert are the spiritual and dramatic origin for the season that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday.
While Advent is a time of giving, Lent is a time of reflection, penance, and reconciliation, all revealed through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Holy Week is a solemn sequence of days leading to the grace of Easter. It is a different form of joy than Christmas; Easter joy is cathartic and transformational. Lent, then, is a time of complex and contrasting emotions. Highs and lows. A time to be shaken and surprised in hopes of stripping away what distracts and divides us to open us up to God's recreating wholeness.

Education :: Faith is a process not just an event
Are you looking for ways to grow in faith or to wrestle with life in community? Faith can't be lived in a vacuum. Like embers in a fire, it's in community - life together - that we become alive and shine. Here are some ways you might find a place and space to grow with others:
CAPC Women's Group
1st, 2nd, 3rd Saturdays at 8:30-10:00am in the Library
The Vocabulary of Faith
aka "Bible Study"
Sunday mornings
with Pastor Monte from 9:30-10:15am in the Front Lounge. We're currently reflecting and studying together the readings for the Sunday in worship. Look for them and study in advance on our blogs.
Reading through the Bible
Thursdays at 11:30am in the Library.
Ever read through the Bible or wanted to discover what it says? Here's your chance. The group always goes for lunch along the avenue afterwards.
Godly Play
During worship each Sunday at 10:30am. We invite our children and families to worship as a full inter-generational community on our more kid-friendly 1st Sundays of the month.
