Vote for Meridian Schools
By Mayor Tammy
I felt it extremely important to dedicate this column to the upcoming West Ada School District bond that voters will consider next week. I haven’t been shy about my personal commitment to the education of Meridian’s future leaders – our children. Meridian Police and Fire are looking for a few more citizen applicants who want to be part of this year's Public Safety Academy. The academy begins April 2nd with sessions held every Thursday evening and Saturday morning through June 4th. The goal of the academy is to give community members a behind the scenes look at our public safety departments so they feel empowered and educated. Click here to apply.

It was a packed house for the Ignite Youth event organized by MYAC. Ten students did a fantastic job of utilizing 20 power point slides to cover a topic of their choice in 5 minutes. Congratulations to all who participated! This year’s winner, Jesse Smith, gave a hilarious presentation on renaming Idaho to Star 43.
Spring Water Main Flushing
Every spring we flush over 450 miles of our drinking water mainlines to clear out any naturally occurring sediment that may have accumulated during the low water flows of the winter months. Sometimes flushing water through the lines disturbs naturally occurring manganese and iron that had settled in the line. As a result, your tap water may temporarily be discolored. Click here for actions to take if this happens and to see this year's flushing schedule
