Looks like the cold season is still upon us.  Several students and staff members have been caught with a cold this week.  Remember to remind students to wash their hands throughout the day and when they get home from school to keep germs under control.
As we continue our Lenten journey, we pray that the Lord will heal our hearts of their hardness so we can accept love
from Him and those around us.
Lenten blessings,
Mr. F.
Crux is the smallest of modern constellations, with only 4 bright stars.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23
Cate and Jack sold candies at a fun fair. If Cate sold twice as many candies as Jack, and if they sold 90 candies in all, how many candies did Jack sell?

Kindergarten: The kinder kids worked with the letter Bb this week and we added two new words to our "word pockets"!  We are doing simple addition and subtraction in math and we had the readings in church on Wednesday, we did awesome!---getting so so smart.

Grade 1: This week we read about Cesar Chevez in reading.  We learned he helped the crop pickers get better wages and better homes to live in.  We also worked on the long /o/ sound and the present and past forms of the verbs do and go.  In math we are finishing our unit on collecting information and graphing. We are beginning a new unit in social about how our world has changed by comparing our life today to that of our grandparents or great-grandparents time.

Grade 2: The second graders have been learning to subtract 2 digit numbers. We have been working with several strategies to help us understand the process.  We also were authors this week.  We created a class book.  Each student wrote and illustrated a page in the book.  We are excited to get them published and to see the finished product.

Grade 3: The third graders continued to practice their multiplication and division skills in math and also worked with elapsed time.  We learned about fractures and wounds with Mrs. Folkman in our Red Cross BAT training.  On Tuesday Fr. Todd heard our confessions as we continue on our Lenten journey.  We are all trying to make a sacrifice that will help change our life and benefit someone else as well.  We gathered all the Box Tops for education that have come in recently and sent them in for redemption.  Many thanks to everyone who saves them for our school as they really do add up!

Grade 4: The fourth graders are reading a Native American legend in reading class this week. In English class we are working on writing an essay about what freedom means to our families. We have started to multiply numbers in the  hundreds this week as well!

Grade 5: This week in fifth grade we wrapped up our fractions unit by learning equivalent fractions and decimals, as well as working with decimals. In reading, we read an expository text about space. We discussed different main ideas and details throughout the story. The fifth graders finished their final drafts of their treasure books. I am very proud of how creative and expressive they have been during this writing process!

Grade 6: This week in the 6th grade classroom we kept warm while it was freezing cold outside. In math this week we continued to work with percents. We worked through many word problems that included percents. We also learned how percents affect our daily lives in such ways as taxes, discounts and tips. In religion we worked with the 4th and 5th graders to make a bulletin board with all the books of the new and old testaments. In science we talked about different forces and also learned about inertia.
