That time we went to Canada and lost some teeth...

Bad stuff happens sometimes!

Things can go wrong on the road. And this month has been one of those months where everything has!

We had our credit card cancelled in Europe due to fraudulent transactions. This has been slightly challenging for two reasons. #1 we've been travelling so quickly we haven't been in one place long enough for our bank to send us a card and #2 our bank in New Zealand can only give us a sign-only card (so, no pin number) unless we come to NZ to set it up.

Then....Hazel had a bad fall and knocked out two of her teeth when we were in Niagara Falls. She is now facing dental surgery which is not a fun prospect for a 15 month old (or her parents)!

Have you had any disasters on your travels? How did you deal with it?

Luckily we #1 travel with several credit & debit cards and #2 have decent travel insurance so we're set up to deal with things like this.

Enjoy this month's newsletter and, as always, feel free to email me back with any travel questions you may have.

Where We've Been

We spent the entire month of May travelling across Europe by train. That certainly was an adventure! (Here we are in Barcelona, Spain.)

After a quick trip to Toronto and Niagara Falls, we spent a couple of days on picturesque Wolfe Island before driving to Ottawa.

I'm currently in Milwaukee doing a weekend blogging workshop (called BlogHouse) and eating all the cheese in Wisconsin.

I'd love your input on our travel plans. We're planning a road trip, starting in Montreal & ending in NYC. We want to cover the Atlantic provinces of Canada and then head down through New England. What do you think we should do? Let me know your recommendations for places to stop, restaurants and things to do!

Quick Travel Tip

Learn to Use Priceline Effectively

I love Priceline! It has saved us so much money on our travels in the US. Express Deals and the Name Your Own Price tool offer huge savings on great hotels. The catch? You don't know what hotel you're getting until you book it. However it can be very easy to work out which hotel you're getting beforehand using a bit of detective work. Open the Express Deals in a new tab on your browser so you can compare things like the amenities, location and price to the regularly listed price. 95% of the time I've gotten the exact hotel I've thought I was going to get. Don't be scared to give Priceline a go!
