March 2015 Meetup

Wednesday, March 25th, 2015

March's MSP Audio Geeks Meetup is Wednesday, March 25th from 7-9pm. David Russ of It's A Secret will be our host. It's A Secret is a music production company that does it all. They have everything you need in a comfy and inspiring environment. In addition to recording, they also compose music for film and TV, as well as provide post-production mixing and editing. Their new, old (1918) building "bIAS" also has plenty of space to handle your next rehearsal. And, if you need it live and like it appropriately loud, their PA company supports your on-site event with gear-only or gear+mixing services. Owned by David and Jenny Russ, the studio is in its 25th year of operation.

Feel free to invite your friends and BYOB. Please RSVP to mspaudiogeeks at gmail dot com if you're planning to attend.

Date: Wednesday, March 25th, 2015
Time: 7-9pm
Location: It's A Secret
4458 S 34th Ave.
Minneapolis, MN 55406
612-384-0091
Parking: On the street.

Five years!

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recently observed its 5th anniversary and released a sweet time-lapse video to commemorate the event.

Much like the SDO, the MSP Audio Geeks will also be celebrating our 5th anniversary this March. Unlike the SDO, there are no stunning images set to peaceful music but you might enjoy this video instead.

On a personal note I would like to thank everyone who has attended and hosted our meetups, taught us something, spread the word about us, and joined in the camaraderie. Out of a conversation with Kelly Pieklo and Jason Miller we have grown into a true community of enthusiastic audio geeks. It is because of your interest, support, and willingness to share that we mark this milestone. Thanks for hanging out with me!

Helping one of our own

You may remember Corey Schreppel, the Wits Technical Director, from such meetups as our November 2014 meetup. Corey's father, George, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) last summer. Some major modifications must be made to the home he shares with his wife Tammy and daughter Brittany. In order to accomplish this they are asking for help via Go Fund Me. You can read the full story and donate to the campaign here: http://www.gofundme.com/georgeschreppel. We wish George, Tammy, Corey, and Brittany all the best.
