Wellness Center Hours

 

The wellness center will now resume regularly scheduled hours 

Monday - Thursday: 7:30 am - 7:30 pm

Friday: 7:30 am - 11:30 am

All Calhoun employees and their spouse receive a free membership to the Wellness Center. 

 

 
CALHOUN WARHAWKS AND THE LIVE UNITED CLUB TEAM UP TO HELP STOCK THE CALHOUN CUPBOARD
The Calhoun Warhawk Student Ambassadors have teamed up with the new Live United Club to help stock and organize the Calhoun Cupboard. Every Wednesday, the Warhawks sell Chick-fil-A sandwiches in the lobby of the MSA building on the Decatur Campus at noon. Sandwiches are normally sold at $3.50 each. If you bring a non-perishable item to donate to the cupboard you will receive a $0.50 discount and your sandwich will only be $3.00. Please keep in mind you can only receive the $0.50 discount on one sandwich.

If so, Calhoun’s Grants Team can help you find and secure funding for those unmet needs!  In our “Gearing Up For Grants” Workshops, you will learn the nuts and bolts of how to create a winning grant proposal.  Each workshop will include an overview of the grant writing process, tutorial on searching for grant opportunities, summary of the sections of a grant proposal, examples of funded applications, and advice from faculty members whose proposals have been funded. FACULTY REGALIA ORDERS!!!

Our 2015 Honors Day Convocation is scheduled for Friday, May 1 and the 2015 Graduation ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, May 15.  In order to be prepared for these events, caps and gowns must be ordered as soon as possible.  Once again, the Calhoun Bookstore is handling faculty regalia rental/purchases.  The Bookstore will need your rental order no later than Friday, March 13, 2015, in order to get it processed and back in time for the first ceremony.  If you need regalia, please go by the Bookstore at either campus and place your order ASAP.

PLEASE MAKE THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT TO YOUR CLASSES OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS


For students who have NOT YET applied to graduate spring 2015:
The last day to apply to graduate AND participate in the 2015 graduation ceremony is Friday, April 17, 2015.  You may then purchase and pick up your regalia in the Calhoun Bookstore at either campus March 2 until April 24, 2015.  

For students who have ALREADY graduated summer 2014 or fall 2014, and APPLIED TO graduate spring 2015:
If you would like to participate in the 2015 graduation ceremony, you may purchase and pick up your regalia in the Calhoun Bookstore at either campus March 2 until April 24, 2015.  

The graduation ceremony will be held Friday, May 15, 2015, at 6:00 pm on the Decatur campus.

  • There will be a free, online tracker for participants (tracks nutrition and excercise). Register for this at: StartWalkingNow.org.
  • April 6- April 10 (Weigh Out Week)  Weigh out will occur in the Wellness Center on the Decatur campus.
  • April 24 (Final Event)
  • At the end of the ScaleBack Campaign, we would like to conduct our own Calhoun Prize Drawing.  Participants in the Prize drawing will be asked to donate $5.00 at the time of Weigh in and must Weigh out at the end of the program.  Campus Coordinator will collect the donations.  Prizes will be based on amount of money collected during weigh in.

PEEHIP WELLNESS SCREENING

A PEEHIP Wellness Screening has been scheduled for March 18, 2015, from 8:00 am - 11:00 am and again from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm in the Health Sciences Bldg on the Decatur Campus. Please call or email Annette LeCroix at 256-306-2786 or email at atl@calhoun.edu to make an appointment.

Effective August 1, 2014, PEEHIP has made it mandatory for employees and spouses who have PEEHIP hospital insurance (Group Number 14000 EDU prefix) to have a yearly health screening. Members will have to complete two (2) things to obtain a premium discount. More information can be accessed by reading the PEEHIP Advisor or by calling the PEEHIP Board.

    1.  Health Screening (blood pressure, cholesterol check, BMI and flu shot) 
    2.  Health Risk Assessment Questionnaire (HRA)

NOTE: If you were screened in September 2014, or previously in this academic year, you do not need to have another screening performed.
