We will have our first meeting this Sunday right after the service. At this meeting we usually pick the theme and which parts of the party (etc) people are most interested in helping with. Contact Erin (erinquarterman@gmail.com) for more info.

THEOLOGY PUB
TUESDAY, MARCH 3, 7:30PM
AT BLUE STAR CAFE & PUB IN WALLINGFORD
TOPIC: MENTAL HEALTH & GOD

We live in a culture that is becoming increasingly comfortable with therapy while the church continues to lose credibility as a source for mental health and development. We are finding more and more people recovering from their church experiences instead of being lifted up by them. The message for many was that through listening to God and adhering to scripture they would find everything they need to lead a stable life and fight off the demons. It is abundantly clear that people are finding health and stability outside of church. Is the spirit working through these "secular" means? Is therapy a spiritual practice? What if what-people-have-been-working-through in therapy (honesty, shedding shame, self-knowledge, etc.) is itself "spiritual," even though it doesn't involve any scripture or prayer or meditation or liturgy? What might be missing from therapy that the church provides when it is healthy?

Come join us for conversation!

Theology Pub happens every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at the same location.
SPRING CLEANING:
PLEASE LEND US YOUR HANDS!

We are looking for some people willing to help with dismantling the old unusable organ that is taking up a large potential space between the main office and Lacey's office. It will be an adventure of a project but we would like to at least begin. There will be pizza and beer and whatever else will entice you. We'll figure out a time and date once we get a core group gathered. Email ivar@apostleschurch.org if you are interested or have any questions.
