Boxted Airfield Historical Group

On Tuesday 17 March Richard Turner will give an illustrated talk on The Roger Freeman Collection at the Museum, Langham Lane, Langham. Non-members welcome (donation of £3); refreshments available.


Roger Freeman Collection
Roger from Dedham was the world authority on the US Eighth Airforce in East Anglia in World War Two. When he passed away his photographic collection was saved for the nation.  The Imperial War Museum have now archived 10000 of these photos.  As well as the photos Richard will be showing some of the letters and documents from Roger's collection that have been acquired by the Boxted Museum.  Admission is by donation of £3.


The first Open Day of the Museum will be on Sunday 29 March, 10.00am to 4.00pm. There will be a film presentation all day on the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron, USAAF, formed at Station 150. Entry by donation £3.

The Boxted Royal British Legion will be reducing the price of a pint from Budget day whatever the result of rumoured reductions in beer duty by George Osborne.
 
Club Chairman Barry Took said  “We’ve been doing well with lots of new events and its helped us negotiate a better price with the brewery. As a member’s club we are passing these savings on and reducing ale and lager by 15p per pint.”
 
The new prices will be introduced on Wednesday coinciding with the budget speech.
 
Anyone wishing to join the club can call in for an application form, no connection to the armed services is necessary.

Bus and Passenger Transport Strategy

ECC wants to find out your views on the Bus and Passenger Transport Strategy, which covers how ECC plans to grow and improve the bus network. You do not have to be a regular bus user to take part – ECC needs and welcomes views of both users and non-users. The survey runs from  27 January to 31 March 2015.

Many thanks to all who supported the recent Family Quiz Night.
 £770 was raised which will be used for Youth Work with the village churches.

 

A dog owner is allowing their dog to foul along Ellis road, public footpaths 24, east of Barritts Farm to Workhouse Hill and 20, east of Workhouse Hill to Straight Road.

Under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996, owners are required to clear up after their dogs in most public areas.

Neighbourhood Watch

A large quantity of fencing posts was stolen from a property on the Straight Road, between Langham Road and Horkesley Road on March 12/13th.  It is thought that a van must have been used and that they were on the premises for about an hour in the early hours.

Mobile Police Office

The Mobile Police Office is being withdrawn.  The last visit at Boxted Playing Field car park is Friday March 27 from 12.15 to 1.15 pm

All calls are graded by control room staff.  Activities or events that are life-threatening emergencies or happening in front of you at that moment, should be reported by dialling: 999
 
If you wish to pass on any messages to your local police team or you would like some crime prevention advice you can do that by phoning 101 and asking that someone from your local team contact you.  The caller will take your contact details and send an email to your local police team.                                             

Or visit www.essex.police.uk put your postcode in ‘My neighbourhood’ and you will get all the names and contact details of the officers from your specific area.
