A Bursary Place Available for Huxham's Cross Farm Design Courses

Dear Members and Friends
Thanks to the Sustainable Community Locality Fund from South Hams District Council, The Apricot Centre is delighted to be able to offer a free place on both our design courses taking place on April 10 - 12 and May 29 - 31 at Dartington Hall.
During the courses we will be using the permaculture design process and biodynamic techniques to create the design of Huxham's Cross Farm. We will be using survey information gathered over the last few months as input into the design. We are surveying the land itself, our community who are interested in what we will be doing with the land, and the local planning authorities.

In the first workshop we will design the overall pattern of the farm - vehicle access, the placement of the buildings and the selection and placement of farm enterprises that the Apricot Centre plans to undertake given their own vision and input from the collated surveys. In the second workshop we will go into the detailed design of the selected farm enterprises, for example the layout of the orchard and fruit varieties. This is a fascinating opportunity to gain an insight into how this is done on a farm scale. The full fee for the course is £250 and places are still available. This bursary is a fully funded place. Further information about these courses can be found at http://www.apricotcentre.co.uk/huxhams-cross-farm

We welcome all applications and value the diversity that this opportunity creates to offer a place to someone who perhaps might not ordinarily be in the position to attend.
To apply for this bursary please send an email to bob.mehew@apricotcentre.co.uk by Monday 30th March with a few short paragraphs that cover the following points:
- You must live in or be adjacent to the South Hams District Council area.
- Your financial situation is such that you cannot afford to pay the full course fee.
- Please tell us how you would like to make an ongoing contribution to the development of the farm, for instance as a customer, a volunteer, a neighbour or otherwise a member of our community.
- Please tell us how you would use the learning from the course for the benefit of your local community

Alternatively, you can call Bob on 01206 973503 to discuss your application. We will consider all applications and will be offering a place in the week commencing 30 March. Once the place is confirmed we will let unsuccessful applicants know.

No Biodynamic or Permaculture knowledge is necessary to attend this course. Come and see how these two whole farm and design systems work effectively together.

With warm wishes,
Bob Mehew
