Greenwood Singers, under the direction of Founder & Artistic Director Robert de Frece, presents Pastorale: Music Inspired by Life in the Countryside on Friday, April 10, 2015 at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral (10035 103 Street) at 8:00 PM. The choir will be joined by pianist Helen Stuart and poetry reader James DeFelice. This concert is proudly presented by Snyder & Associates LLP and CKUA Radio. This concert concludes the choir’s 35th Season.

Each spring since 1981, Greenwood Singers has presented a programme of choral music from Renaissance to Broadway. The theme of the 2015 spring concert is Pastorale:  Music Inspired by Life in the Countryside. The programme will open with Italian and English pastoral madrigals extolling the beauty of life in the country and Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs), op. 103 by Johannes Brahms with pianist Helen Stuart. Ms. Stuart will also accompany the choir in Randall Thompson’s Frostiana (Seven Country Songs) on poems by Robert Frost. Each poem will be read by James DeFelice prior to the choir singing Thompson's setting of the text. The programme will conclude with choral selections from the landmark Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma!
