We are a Christ-following community that brings ourselves and
others closer to God.
It IS that time of year: when we begin to think about Holy Week and Easter!  In a way, general church events ease up a little, but worship events are ramped up. Be sure to take advantage of every opportunity you can to grow closer to God during this holy time of year. And, considering our mission statement listed above, invite someone to come with you!

New Children's Sunday School Start Time!

A Time for God’s Children: There’s so much to learn in Sunday School! Children’s Sunday School classes now begin at 9:30. We encourage families to bring their children to their classroom before the worship service. Families are also encouraged to worship together at any worship service.

Thinking About Giving Choir a Try?

As we journey into the Lenten season and look forward to the great Easter celebration, the music ministry at Catalina United Methodist would like to extend an invitation to join us.  For those of you who have been thinking about joining the Sanctuary Choir, this is an excellent time for you to join.  We are singing the Requiem, by John Rutter in the Palm Sunday services, which will enhance our liturgy greatly.  This would be an opportune time for those that only have the time to join us for a little while as we prepare for this great work.  For more information, please visit the church website, or email the music director, Jonathan Kim at jonathankim@catalinamethodist.org
Please join us for Holy Week!

Balloons for Harry

All you wonderful family and friends of Harry Hoskinson-- as we reach March 14, we are reminded even more of our love of Harry and what wonders he brought to us all. Please join in celebrating Harry and showing our love by releasing balloons-- wherever you are--at 12:00n on March 14. Let's float our love up to him!
Pick up your copy of Lent: A Season of Returning this Wednesday or Sunday! This is a meaningful Lenten devotional. It is centered around the traditional lectionary texts for each Sunday in Lent. Just pick up your copy at the Welcome Cart, or in the Fellowship Hall, and put  $3 for the book in the attached envelope and put it in the offering at church, or give it to Richard, or turn it in at the church office.

YOUTH NEWS

Youth Group meets this Sunday! 5-7pm!
Youth 2015 Update
We have raised almost half of what we need for our trip to YOUTH 2015 this summer!
If you missed your opportunity to pick up an envelope to support our youth group's trip to YOUTH 2015, you can still get one from Richard. But wait! There's more!
You can also make your donation online. Go here and scroll down to the box that is labelled "Other Restricted Fund" and enter your amount. Beside that box, type "Youth Fundraiser" in the box.
And start saving your change, especially quarters, for a special collection in early spring! You can track our progress, and see a new message from our youth every 100 miles closer we get to our goal. Look for the maps in the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall.

We put together some snack packs Sunday night at youth group! These are used to feed hungry people who stop by our church during the week!

COMING EVENTS

Seder Dinner March 25 at 6pm in Fellowship Hall. As we celebrate our freedom in Christ, we are also linked to the Jewish roots of our faith. As the Seder, we will share Scripture, pray, question, sing, and eat!  Everyone is welcome to this meal, especially young children!  Each family/person is asked to bring a dish to share (they do not need to be kosher). The special ceremonial items for the dinner will be provided. If you have any questions, contact Kristin.

Fifth Sunday Family Worship is March 29! Each fifth Sunday, we do not offer children's Sunday School, and we all worship together! Join us in the chapel, sanctuary, or fellowship hall for Palm Sunday worship!

Sam Hughes Neighborhood Tour April 12 1-5pm We are privileged to be part of the Sam Hughes Neighborhood Tour this year! This is an annual event that not only connects us to our neighbors in the Sam Hughes neighborhood, but also allows us to "show off" to all the visitors who will come by our church! This is one of our biggest and best outreach opportunities of the year! We will need LOTS of volunteers! More info to follow, but mark your calendar now!

Online Giving

Did you know that giving to support God's work through Catalina UMC is as simple as clicking here? It is!

There is MUCH MORE!

There is a good online devotional here.
Read about everything going on at Catalina in the Catalina News!

By the way, church news and church event photos are always welcome!
Send submissions to richard@catalinamethodist.org by Tuesday noon. We intentionally keep this email brief (so we cannot include everything) and we intentionally keep it about Catalina (so, please, no requests to announce outside events). If you are submitting a photo, send it to richard.lee.jones@gmail.com (Gmail works better with large attachments like photos).

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING: Observed on the Fourth Sunday in Lent, this day calls the Church to share the goodness of life with those who hurt. In the United Methodist Church, offerings collected benefit United Methodist Committee on Relief.
