"Space Wars: The Empire Strikes Blanc" is a hilarious romp through the galaxy with the Ultimate Weapon, a lovebot. We're seeking nine talented actors/singers to fill the following roles:

Kit Heartthrob - Captain of the Starship Ventureprise (male)
Number 2 - Kit's faithful (sycophantic?) second in command (male)
General Mangrave - A no-nonsense general who takes her job very seriously (female)
Doctor Deadrock - A mad scientist (male)
Servicedroid - A lovable service bot (male or female)
Middlemanagementdroid - An uptight bot (male or female)
Nova - A young prodigy double agent (female)
Killbot - a misunderstood robot (male or female)

Auditions are:
Saturday March 21 from 9am-noon
Sunday March 29 from noon-3pm
at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.

Please email gh_ms@yahoo.com (or message "Gerald Schieven" on FaceBook) to schedule an audition or for more information. Please prepare a short (~2 minutes) song, and bring sheet music for the accompanist. (Please no a cappella or karaoke.) At audition we'll teach you some simple choreography, and will have you read various parts. (We'll send sides before the audition date.)

Rehearsals will start in early May, and will be held at the Winspear Centre in Sidney. The performances are outdoors (in the vineyard) at the Muse Winery in North Saanich, on July 11, 18, 19, August 15, 16, 29 & 30.

Present...

"Last Of The Red Hot Lovers"

Description
Middle-aged and married, overworked and overweight, Barney Cashman wants to join the sexual revolution before it's too late and arranges three seductions: the first, Elaine Navazio proves to be a foul-mouthed bundle of neuroses; Bobbi Michele is next, a 20-ish actress who's too kooky by half; finally comes September and Jeanette Fisher, a gloomy, depressed housewife who happens to be married to Barney's best friend.

"Mr. Simon has created a great character here...it is extraordinarily funny and yet also charming...as witty as ever, perhaps wittier." - The New York Times

"Delightfully hilarious and witty, as well as filled with wisdom about human nature...an uproariously funny author. But he is far more than that. He has a mellow and compassionate understanding of how weak and essentially well meaning mankind behaves...a genuinely brilliant play." - New York Post

Volunteers Needed!
As you know, any play needs more than just the people on stage, there are many people behind the scenes and behind the curtain helping to bring a show to life.

We're currently looking for a Producer and Backstage Crew for "Last of the Red Hot Loves"

"Everybody's doing it to everybody, and everybody's saying the don't know why it's happening. It's happening because they 're doing it. It's a matter a cause and effect. It's a matter a responsibility. People gotta take responsibility for what they do."
Murk, SAVAGE IN LIMBO

Our 2015 season is all about that familiar anxiety. We all know how it feels to let opportunities pass by, to wait by the phone, to stagnate, to be paralysed by choices. An appropriate catharsis season for workingclasstheatre, we'll put on staged what we're passed and wait no longer!

SAVAGE IN LIMBO traps 6 men and women in a dimly lit bar with strict rules. Tony wants to be someone he's not. April wants to escape. Murk wants her to stay. Linda just wants to be seen and Denise Savage... has no idea what she wants. With no real identity but the public mask she wears, Denise searches for who she is while her friends struggle with their own ideas of identity, morals, and love. Written by the playwright who brought you DOUBT and DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA. darkly hilarious and strangely poignant tale of searching for certainty in an uncertain world.

"Oh my God you're right. It is a sign. And it's not the lighter. The sign is I'm reasoning with a cactus! ...But you're a very good listener. And I don't have anyone else."
Nic, WAITING...

Bang! The front door opens and Tom and Mary return from the bar. It's on. The lights shift and a beautiful woman sets a candlelit dinner when a guilty James arrives home form his "business trip". A blink later Nick spins on an office chair, self medicating and waiting by the phone. WAITING... by the creator of 2BR02B and ROPE OF SAND sets three stories side by side in the same apartment. At times thought-provoking and hilarious, heart-warming and heart-breaking, this play will have you wondering what else has happened in your apartment?
Theatre Trivia

- The phrase "winging it" comes from actors learning their lines in the wings just before a
performance.

- William Shakespeare spelled his surname several ways, but never spelled it "Shakespeare", which we would consider correct.

- The oldest play in existence is “The Persians” by Aeschylus from 472BC.

- The word "audition" originally referred to a trial in the legal sense.
