What's New in 2015

The Evolution of Artists of Texas

On January 1, 2015, the management of Artists of Texas passed from Laurie Pace to me. I want to thank Laurie and also Debbie Lincoln for the countless hours and years they have donated to AOT. Without their dedication, the Artists of Texas organization would not be where it is today.

So beside the transfer of management, what else is new with Artists of Texas? I jumped in with both feet ready to work ... as Murphy's Law would have it, the flu virus caught me in mid-January and refused to leave. With Laurie's help, by February I was planning and coordinating an ad campaign.

Advertising: Our first ad for 2015 will run in the April issue of American Art Collector: Art Lovers Guide to Texas. The April issue coincides with and will be available at the Scottsdale Art Auction—which will bring AOT visibility to some major art collectors. Participating artists are Judy Mackey, Sheri Jones, Marchita Priest, Holly Hunter Berry, Niki Gulley, Laurie Justus Pace, Jacquie McMullen, Roseanne Snyder, Shirley Quaid, Barbara Mason, and Vernita Bridges Hoyt.

Mission: The updated Mission Statement now mentions scholarships. The award of an art scholarship is being planned for later in the year. We are excited about Artists of Texas giving back to the community through an art scholarship.

Gallery Exhibits: As a juried member of Artists of Texas, you participate in an exclusive membership joined together to present Texas art at its finest.  Since the membership includes artists from all over the great state of Texas, our plan is to rotate the location of art shows to gain wider exposure for Artists of Texas, namely you. Scheduling gallery exhibits for 2015 has been and continues to be my immediate focus, but our new procedure will be to set exhibit dates a year in advance. I already have a gallery commitment for a show in 2016 (details to be announced).  I am communicating with two galleries to coordinate a 2015 show as soon as possible. When I have a firm commitment for a show in 2015, you will be the first to know.

If you have suggestions, please email me. Suggested galleries with contact are appreciated. Thank you.

Texas Art Blog: Volunteers Pat Meyers and Gaye Sekula have been posting member news on the Texas Art Blog at the Artists of Texas website. This is not a typical blog where art is posted for sale, but a space on our website to be used for introduction of artists and news of your accomplishments or maybe something that shares your personality and painting process, something to drive more viewers not only to the Texas Art Blog but for more exposure to your site as well.

Pat needs your pictures and a little about yourself to help her feature you in this space. Send your info to Pat here ...

Gaye asks you to share your featured "Meet the Artist" posts on your own blog and social media pages (Facebook, twitter, Pinterest, etc.) and NOT to feel embarrassed to "toot your own horn!!!"

Be sure to browse through the Texas Art Blog (not to be confused with the blogspot blogs). You may already have been featured and need to SHARE that post. Then send Pat Meyer your news and check back frequently, because you will be featured again!

Thank you for your patience during the transition of responsibilities from Laurie to me. Next order of the day is to plan a 2015 Artists of Texas show asap!

Volunteer of the Month!

Kristine is amazing and does so much work behind the scenes. Thank you, Kristine!
