Microanalysis Online Reporting

Microanalysis is proud to launch our online reporting service. Accessible through our website, our client login area allows our clients to view reports, invoices and testing requirements from anywhere with an internet connection.

This change will save us all the inconvenience of email size limits and allow you to search previous results. Results issued after the 1st December 2014 will be available, and will remain online for a period of 12 months.

Each organisation will be provided with login details and these details will be provided to the contacts we have for your organisation. If any of the contacts leave the company or if you require a password change for any other reason, please give us a call.

Don't have your login details yet? You will receive your login by email the next time your results are ready or the next time we receive samples from you.

The login area is available through our website (microanalysis.com.au) or directly at results.microanalysis.com.au.

If you encounter any difficulties, please don't hesitate to contact us

Solarius SolarScan

Did you guess what February’s image of the month was? It was a cropped 3D surface profile of a 5c piece scanned with our newly commissioned Solarius SolarScan AOP150 laser interferometer. The SolarScan works by creating height profile line scans by interpolating data points measured at set intervals. In addition to line scan profiles, surface scans can be produced by combining line profiles (also by data point interpolation) to create 3D surface profiles.

The 5c coin scan was performed with an x-axis and y-axis resolution of 5µm and 10µm respectively and the maximum depth of the coin surface was measured to be 255µm. Currently, we have two optical pens that give us a maximum depth of field of 24mm and axial resolution as low as 0.008µm. The x/y axis resolution can be taken down to 1µm if necessary to produce some very high resolution images, but images are only a part of the SolarScan’s repertoire.

The list of analyses includes; pit and peak depth, width and volume measurement; 2D line parameter values conforming to standards ISO 4287, ISO 12780, ISO 12181 and ASME B46.1; 3D surface parameter values conforming to standards ISO 25178, EUR 15178N, ISO 12781 and ASME B46.1; surface area at depth/height measurement; Abbott-Firestone Curve and/or histogram of pit depth distribution; roughness and waviness extraction and form removal capabilities allowing for scans of cylindrical or spherical surfaces.

The Solarius SolarScan has begun work analysing metal coupon samples for our Corrosive to Metals test. Broad area topographical mapping enables excellent pit identification and allows all pits to be measured to greater levels of accuracy and statistical confidence. The SolarScan provides significant improvement to the testing and classification of potentially dangerous goods.

Whether you have a specific analysis in mind or if you would simply like to see your samples in a new way, please contact me to discuss a surface profile and analysis of your sample.

Image Of The Month
This month’s image is a mole cricket of the Gryllotalpidae family. Commonly mistaken as a sandgroper, mole crickets are distinguished by longer appendages and the presence of wings. Rarely seen but easily heard by their singing at dusk, they are nocturnal insects spending most of their time underground in extensive tunnel systems.
