New paper reveals US$22 billion funding gap

“Pricing the right to education: The cost of reaching new targets by 2030,” launched on 11 March, outlines the financial obligations that must be met to achieve the post-2015 sustainable development goals for education.

These new goals focus on ensuring universal pre-primary, primary and lower-secondary quality education for all. In order for them to be achieved, governments and international aid organisations must bridge an annual US$22 billion funding gap.

This policy paper comes ahead of the launch of the main report – Education for All 2000-2015: Achievements and Challenges – on the 9 of April, which will include detailed recommendations for the post-2015 education framework.

A new paper, “School-related gender-based violence is preventing the achievement of quality education for all,” calls for more gender disaggregated monitoring of this issue. Read more.
