Novelty  & Nonsense #28
Found this great article on Medium, 'The Beauty of Things That Don’t Scale.'
"The motto used to be: Do good things and then talk about them. Now the motto is: Do really exciting things, and you don’t even have to talk about them anymore." - Tim Leberecht
I have this conversation so many times with creative people who are wracked with guilt for not keeping up with Twitter, or Instagram, their blog, or their newsletter.

Look, exciting doesn't have to mean breaking the skydive record like Red Bull.

Exciting doesn't have to mean being like OK Go and doing a treadmill video

If you do exciting things, things worth talking about, you won't have to talk about yourself. Other people will do it for you. If they're not, figure that part out.

Pizza shops are a dime a dozen. Pizza Brain in Philadelphia filled their shop with pizza memorabilia, used the backs of pianos as their counter, and make really good pizza. Heck, they got press on NPR even before they opened their doors.

Look, the majority of the brands out there are just sending out automated Tweets linked from their Facebook updates and expecting that to work. But that ain't exciting.

It all goes back to my favorite saying, "you don't have to out run a bear, you just have to out run your friends."

It's not about doing more, it's about caring more.
While most bands are content with low quality smart phone footage, horrible audio, and meandering narration, Touch Amore did this. They cared more.
Suffoca Bean Flannel
I bought this nice shirt from Suffoca recently. Ordered a medium, shipped from oversears, got it, tried it on, and nope; didn't fit. I emailed Boyce, since we sort of met online years ago when I was doing my Bike Nerd adventures. I asked about sending this shirt back, and starting the whole return process.

Nope. He just sent me a new one. And here I am telling you about it.

Care more, care as much as you can, and then care a little more.
PS - I didn't get the job.
