THINKmd newsletter #1
Preparing for the first MEDSINC Beta test
Here’s the inaugural newsletter from THINKmd. You’re receiving this email because at some point in the recent past you expressed interest in either THINKmd or MEDSINC.
First, I’m pleased to say we are continuing to move forward. We’re continuing to test our MEDSINC prototype at the UVM Medical Center. Currently, we’re comparing MEDSINC generated clinical assessments performed by non-pediatric trained individuals with limited skills in assessing sick children to that of board certified Pediatricians assessing the same patients. We’ve found that certified Pediatricians agree with MEDSINC clinical assessments generated by non-pediatric trained individuals >90 percent of the time. This exceeds our expectations, and is significantly better than figures recently reported for inter-observational assessments by pediatric specialists assessing children with respiratory distress (<50%).
John Canning, CEO of Physician’s Computer Company (PCC), and his staff have been working to complete the beta version of MEDSINC MVP. Included in this version is a generally upgraded user interface, which also displays a few of Marc Hughes’ custom-made cartoon illustrations to aid users with screen identification, as well as clinical pictures and brief self-training video clips produced by Global Health Media Project. My plan is to begin our initial MEDSINC Beta test in Dhaka, Bangladesh the week of March 9, in conjunction with pediatric clinical teams at the icddr,b (International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research).
On the investment front, we have completed a resource development investment with Physicians Computer Company (PCC) worth $200,000. In this deal, PCC has agreed to provide development resources sufficient to complete MEDSINC MVP and to support THINKmd through the MEDSINC Beta testing phase. We have also opened a $250,000 convertible debt offering, which has already received considerable interest.
You can find out more about THINKmd and MEDSINC from the recent Seven Days article, the WCAX video, and from THINKmd.org, or by emailing me directly at bfinette@thinkmd.org.
As always, I appreciate your continued interest and support,
Barry
