IMIA CEO Transition; Interim CEO
The first phase of the IMIA CEO transition process, as announced by IMIA President Dr Lincoln de Assis Moura Jr. is now complete. Following the retirement of Dr Peter Murray, Ms. Elaine Huesing is now Interim CEO until at least October 2015. Elaine has assumed all responsibilities of the post, and is the primary contact point for the IMIA Office, via the usual email at imia@imia-services.org
The IMIA Board is currently finalising processes and timeline for the recruitment of the new IMIA CEO, and an announcement will be made, by the 2015 General Assembly meeting at the latest.
Future Newsletters
This is the final IMIA newsletter that I (Peter) will be responsible for producing. While such little feedback as we receive shows that people value these communications, producing them takes a great deal of time and effort, and we have few contributions sent by members. If you have time, energy and are willing to assist in producing contributions to future newsletters, and maintaining its frequency, please contact Elaine Huesing, IMIA Interim CEO. If no offers of help are received, then due to the overall workload, production may have to be less frequent.

NI2016: Crowdsourcing for Bursary Funds
Patrick Weber draws your attention to the following: Very good work is done in developing countries, which is worth being presented during international conferences like NI2016. For the researchers and the scientists it can be too expensive to present their work in Geneva. Many from India, Africa, South America, Russia, etc. are willing to present a paper at the conference. In order to give them financial help an account has been opened exclusively for bursaries. A crowdfunding site is also available www.ni2016.causevox.com
Medinfo2015
Scientific submissions for Medinfo2015 are now closed. The SPC co-chairs, Profs. Fernando Martin-Sanchez and Kaija Saranto thank everyone who has submitted materials. All submissions have been reviewed, and key members of the SPC, EC and LOC will meet in Madrid, Spain in early March to finalise the outcomes of the review processes.
We ask all IMIA members to ensure promotion of Medinfo2015 through their networks; now may be a good time to start planning your trip.
We ask everyone planning to attend Medinfo2015, and/or the IMIA General Assembly meeting, to ensure that they are aware of any visa requirements, and to make early plans to minimise the risk of problems.
Passports and Visas: Visa requirements may differ according to the country of origin. Brazil does not require visa for most countries, however we advise delegates to check their individual needs in advance and in case a visa is necessary, we suggest to preview at least 10 working days to have the passport back from the Consulate.
Official invitation letters: Official letters of invitation are designed to help overcome administrative difficulties in certain countries. Such letters do not imply any financial support, nor offer the guarantee of a visa. Letters can be requested to the executive secretariat at info@fernandapresteseventos.com.br and will be issued after registration to the congress is completed.
