Fasting leads to God's blessing...

As we look back over the years of blessing and favor from the Lord in reaching those within the strip club industry, the stories are always nothing short of miraculous. Not only have we been able to reach hundreds of precious ladies, we've also had incredible God-stories and God-moments with the staff at the clubs.

It’s our regular habit now of fasting the day before, the day of and the day after an outreach. The spiritual battles we face in this ministry are fierce, and we need an extra measure of God’s grace and strength with each and every outreach.

In the middle of a corporate fast for Victoria’s Friends, four of my outreach team leaders decided to go into a bad area to get doors opened in clubs we hadn't frequented in a while. Each team had four, gorgeous house-mom bags and was given specific instructions that they were to go in and chat with the house mom, give her the gift bag, then ask permission to come back and bring gifts for all the dancers. The night was a huge success. In three new clubs, the doors were flung wide open, the house moms loved the gifts, and our teams were invited back to love up on all the dancers. No doubt the fasting commitment we made was honored by God!

One more bag remained; the leaders knew of another club in the area to which we’d not had access and decided to deliver it there. Upon entering the club, the team met a man who worked the bar and introduced himself as Ghost. Carol asked, “Ghost? That's an interesting name." He responded, “Yes, Ghost as in Holy Ghost,” and then proceeded to explain that he was always telling the ladies of his club about God, reading Scriptures to them, and trying to get them to go to church. So they nicknamed him Ghost!

God opened the doors of this club wide for VF to come back and to bless the ladies with more baskets. As the leaders began to leave, a street prostitute in a tank top and high heels approached them and asked if they were with a church. They explained that Victoria’s Friends is a faith-based organization. She asked to pray a blessing over them, gathered them into a huddle and did just that!

Now that was a first for us: meeting a bartender who works in a strip club who calls himself Holy Ghost and encountering a praying street prostitute! Four new clubs opened up to us and wanted our gift baskets, and if that were not enough, as my four leaders got back into the car, the time was … 4:44pm. God's thumbprint is on every moment to reach the least and the lost! In the book of Acts, the gospel is symbolized as a sheet with four corners – the message going out to all the Gentiles. We Christians have the WORD of God, and it’s ours to share – not hoard! Please, let me encourage you to take every opportunity to present it to a dying world. And if you’re not a Christian, I pray you’ll begin investigating the Bible and Jesus’ claims for yourself so that you, too, can come to know and love him as I do.

Fifteen years ago when God told me to go back into the clubs for my friends, I never, ever envisioned the beautiful end result of my obedience: new friendships made, lives miraculously changed for the good, new ministries born, families restored, God’s Kingdom populated with new believers. When God calls us to do something and we obey, he graciously takes our faith and our meager offerings and multiplies them far beyond our wildest imaginations.
