This balmy week, with temperatures surging to the slushy side of freezing, change is in the air and we look hopefully to windward. Our neighbourhood is now nominally more accessible by car and spaceshippy public transit, so come on down!
Even more exciting: we've finished completely rebuilding our website from the ground up. The new site makes finding and getting the books and charts you need faster and easier, and will allow us to build even better things in the future. Some things the new site does well include:

 Navigation - A Newcomer's Guide

This is a great basic textbook for beginning navigators. It is the 2nd edition, and completely updated to reflect modern technologies and techniques. It is also an appropriate textbook for students of Day Skipper courses.
 The Ship of the Line: A History in Ship Models
by Brian Lavery
This an excellent book that uses ship models to demonstrate the development of English warships in the Age of Sail. It begins with the late medieval/Elizabethan period, through the many and important changes of the 17th century and ends in the Napoleonic era. This book is underpinned by the strength of the collection of the National Maritime Museum and is filled with fantastic high-quality photographs and illustrations.
 Let's Go Cruising! Anchoring DVD

This is the first in a planned series of instructional videos from the Shards. This is advanced instruction, especially for anchoring under suboptimal or varied conditions. It also includes other mooring techniques such Bahamian moor, Mediterranean mooring, and anchoring and tying to a mangrove to ride out a storm.
