Shakopee School Board Business Meeting

March 9, 2015
The Shakopee School Board met for a regular business meeting last night at the District Office.

The meeting began on a positive note as Board Chair Reggie Bowerman read a list of good news items happening in the district. Leading the list was the news that Shakopee Public Schools is the recipient of the 2015 School Finance Award from the Minnesota Department of Education. This is the third year in a row the district has earned the honor. The award recognizes schools for timely submission of financial data and compliance with Minnesota statutes, presence of select indicators of fiscal health and accuracy in financial reporting. "We are pleased to have earned this award for the third year," said Mike Burlager, Director of Finance at Shakopee Schools. "It's nice to see the efforts of our finance department to report our financial data in a timely and accurate fashion are being recognized." Read more about the award by clicking here.

The School Board heard from Paulette Rislund, Volunteer Coordinator at Shakopee Schools. Rislund presented the resolution for National Volunteer Week for the School Board to sign. National Volunteer Week is April 12-18th. Each school will be recognizing their volunteers that week. Did you know that last year our volunteers clocked in 28,000 documented hours? Thank you to all our volunteers for the work they do in our schools. Read the Volunteer Week Resolution by clicking here.
