Global publishing leaders will debate sector's future in London

The International Publishers Association, the Publishers Association (UK) and London Book Fair are proud to announce that the 31st International Publishers Congress will be held in London on April 10-12 2016.

Since 1896, the International Publishers Congress has attracted the world’s leading publishers, offering a platform to discuss the most important challenges facing the industry. The 2016 Congress, which will be jointly organized by IPA, the PA and LBF, is expected to attract 600 publishers from around the globe.

A week-long programme of presentations, debates, workshops and networking events will address the major trends impacting publishing, with a focus on the sector’s digital future. Full details, including how to register at a launch rate of £750, can be found at the Congress website.

IPA President Richard Charkin said “after a spectacular Congress in Bangkok we are now looking forward to our next big meeting in London. Not only is it my home town and the home of Bloomsbury Publishing, it’s home to many of the world's greatest publishing houses. Do come and join us in Europe's most global and most vibrant city.”

Richard Mollet, Chief Executive of The Publishers Association, said “we are thrilled to be welcoming the international publishing community to London. From a West End packed with theatre adaptations of books to a world-class education and research community, the UK continues to be a leading light in innovation, creativity and publishing excellence”.

Jacks Thomas, Director of the London Book Fair, said “Congress delegates are in for a treat! London is a great city to visit – packed full with publishers, culture and all round inspiration. With The London Book Fair at the heart of the international business of books, the IPA couldn’t have a better home for its 2016 Congress and we are greatly looking forward to hosting it.”
