The Big Debate: Livestock's Contribution to Food Security

If you fast-forward to 2050, what does the picture look like for the livestock industry? How will livestock continue to play a role in food security? GALVmed’s CEO Dr. Peter Jeffries and Senior Director for Policy and External Affairs Dr. Hameed Nuru discuss these issues as part of a global campaign on food security. The campaign was launched last week by the UK’s Telegraph to help people understand the challenges and strategies involved in creating an affordable, sustainable, economically sound and socially acceptable food future for everyone.

New Delhi: Multi-stakeholder meeting on Occupational Standards for Veterinary Para Professionals

GALVmed supported a key multi-stakeholder meeting held on 16th March in New Delhi to validate the National Occupational Standards (NOSs) and qualification packs drafted for veterinary para professionals by the Government of India and the Agriculture Skill Council of India.

One of the key highlights of this new document is the inclusion of community animal health workers (CAWHs) as para professionals. GALVmed has been advocating for CAWHs to be recognised in this capacity since they are crucial for delivery of services and make the last mile connection with poor livestock keepers.
