"Bicycling is the nearest approximation I know to the flight of birds. The airplane simply carries a man on its back like an obedient Pegasus; it gives him no wings of his own." ~ Louis J. Helle Jr., Spring in Washington

Bike Newport Night 2015: THE FIRST MILE
was a rollicking success
Big thanks to all who donated, volunteered, raced the VeloSprints, bid on auction items, and boogied for bikes at Bike Newport Night! We raised $4,500 for bike path advocacy – our dream of the First Mile is that much closer. We couldn't have done it without our generous hosts at Midtown Oyster Bar, the rollicking tunes of Slackwater String Band and Los Duderinos - brought to us by Common Fence Music, and the awesome electric bike donation from IE Cycle. Check out the fantastic party photos by Meg Heriot.
Did you attend the event? Please take this 5-question / 3-minute survey to give us your feedback. Thanks!
Donate Used Bikes at
Newport & Middletown Recycling Days
Saturday, April 11
Spring cleaning means liberating forgotten bikes and helping them find new and welcoming owners while you make new space in your basements and garages! Bring repairable bikes (along with other recyclables and bulk waste) to:
Newport Spring Recycling Day: First Beach, 8am-12pm
Middletown Bulk Waste Day: Second Beach, 8am-1pm
A team from Bike Newport will be there to collect bikes for restoration and distribution in the community. Bikes beyond repair will still be recycled. Have bicycles you'd like to donate but can't make it on the 11th? Contact Mark.
