Dear <<Name>>,

Forget basketball and cricket, we've got important competition here: the IACP and James Beard Foundation have both announced their nominees for cookbook awards. There are dozens of new cookbooks and corresponding book tours across the globe. Plus we have a cookbook store profile, recipe excerpts, Easter and Passover recipes, author interviews, your favorite lists and a couple of giveaways. What a great way to begin a new season!

World calendar of cookbook events
Cookbook publishers are cranking up the heat, and the award season is hitting its peak. Both of these occurrences mean cookbook authors are on tour and may be headed to your city. Don't forget to visit our World Calendar of Cookbook Events to see if your favorite author will be coming to a location near you. There are tours for many of the books in our March roundup, and IACP cookbook award nominee Cathy Barrow is touring in support of Mrs. Wheelbarrow's Practical Pantry. You'll also find cooking classes from notable authors on the calendar.

sweet potato gratin Domenica Marchetti
Virginia Willis is not only an authority on Southern cooking, a French-trained chef, and a veteran cookbook author; she is also a proud Southerner who adores eating and cooking. So when she needed to lighten up her diet, the most important criterion was that all the food had to taste delicious. The result is Lighten Up, Y'all, and we're excited to present two complete recipes from the book for you to try! Sample Bourbon grilled pork chops and sweet potato gratin. Domenica Marchetti is a food writer, recipe developer, and cooking teacher who specializes in Italian cooking. She has written several cookbooks and her food articles have appeared in many newspapers and magazines. With her latest cookbook, Ciao Biscotti, she turns her talents to the baking arena. The cookbook is a collection of 44 authentic biscotti recipes, both savory and sweet. Read the EYB interview to learn more about Marchetti and her new cookbook.
Cookbook store profile - Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks
This month we visit Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks at its new NYC location. After her landlord refused to renew her lease, Bonnie was forced to move across town from her West Village neighborhood. Now that she has settled in, Bonnie spoke with us about the move and the nearly 5,000 out-of-print cookbooks she has in her shop.
