Lunar eclipse
This full moon, Blood Moon,  will be a total lunar eclipse, but unfortunately we won’t be able to see it in the UK as it is in the day time. Those of you in USA, Australia and Asia will be able to see it.  Beginnings. I love these reminders of the changing energies of nature.  

On line courses: filming in Bristol on 11/12 April
Thanks to all of you who got in touch with me with feedback and ideas of what you would like to see me doing with on line courses.
 
I have now reviewed my idea of filming my teaching sessions.
 
I decided that it is in fact better to do some special filming, with a professional camera person and a few selected students.
 
This will take place in Bristol where I live. If anyone would like to volunteer to be a model student and have an opportunity to review some material or be introduced to it please come along. .I will need a few people for doing some exercises and practical work. I will also need a few pregnant women (more than 26 weeks). You could just come for the theory to listen: it will just help me to have a real audience there. If you are happy to spread the word to your contacts, I have produced a brief outline below.
 
I am filming on 11 /12 April at Yanley Court http://www.yanleycourt.co.uk/ in Bristol and hopefully will get the courses on line before the summer.
 
The first courses to go on line will probably be:
 
An introduction to the importance of the Extraordinary vessels: this will include lectures and exercises. This will be geared to be relevant not only to shiatsu practitioners, but anyone!  It is the foundation of much of my work.
 
An introduction to the basic principles of shiatsu: this will be lecture and some basic practical exercises. This is mostly geared to non shiatsu practitioners: midwives, doulas and massage therapists who want to integrate some shiatsu skills into their work. It will include my birth preparation work as outlined in my book Beautiful Birth: so will also be useful for parents. . 
 
At a later date I may then produce videos of specific aspects, like pregnancy, birth and postnatal, client issues and so on.
 
If you have special requests then please let me know. Or you have enjoyed some on on -line training and want to share what you liked. 
 
Well Mother Filming: Extraordinary Vessels and Foundations of Shiatsu 11/12 April Bristol
 
Would you like to listen to some lectures on the Extraordinary vessels or take part in some exercises and shiatsu based skills sessions? A chance to experience some of the Well Mother material for free in exchange for being filmed.
 
You can be a practitioner, including shiatsu or massage, or maybe just someone who is interested in finding out more about shiatsu.
 
Suzanne Yates, director of Well Mother (www.wellmother.org) is filming material for some on line courses on  11 /12 April at Yanley Court http://www.yanleycourt.co.uk/ in Bristol .
 
I hope to film some pregnancy shiatsu sessions and pregnancy exercises and exercises with pre crawling babies: If you are pregnant (more than 26 weeks) or have a pre crawling baby: please come for the end of the exercise session (ie about 11.30). If you are pregnant you can stay for the shiatsu in the afternoon.   
 
Programme:
 
Saturday: between 2 to about 4.30(please arrive about 1.30)
 
I will giving some lectures on the Extraordinary Vessels and on basic principles of shiatsu: you can come along just to listen.
 
Sunday: from 10-4.30 (please arrive about 9.30 for the morning session or 1 for the afternoon)
 
I will be doing some  Extra-ordinary vessels and 12 meridians exercises and demonstrating basic shiatsu principles and techniques.
 
10-12.30  Meridian exercises. Open to all: If you are pregnant or have a pre crawling baby it would be great to show the modifications, so please come at 11.30. . 
 
1.30-4.00 Basic shiatsu skills and some all fours work on the ball including a birth preparation session. Pregnant women are welcome for the whole of this session. 
 
You are welcome to stay all day if you wish.
 
I am also considering filming a 20 m sequence of exercises with a baby: so if you have a pre crawling baby and would like to come we could film this either at end of morning or afternoon session on Sunday.
 
Please email if you would like to attend and saw what time you can come. You will need to wear loose comfortable, plain clothing.
 
If you are staying the whole day, there is tea and coffee on site but please bring a packed lunch

Photos/drawings of Extraordinary vessels needed
As part of preparing my on line courses, and indeed for all my teaching, I am looking to create some new drawings of the Extra-ordinary vessels. As those of you who have studied with me recently know, I am no longer happy with using the images I currently use (which are in my books) as I feel that they don’t adequately represent the energy or indeed the pathways of these vessels.So I am looking for someone to draw some more accurate pictures: in collaboration with me.
 
If you are an artist, designer or know someone who is, please get in touch. I will work with you to produce something. I would like this fairly soon as these are the images I would like to use in my on line courses.

Residential 11-16  May 2016: Coming into Being: UK
Following the success of last year’s Residential at Holycombe, I have decided to book it again for the Residential in 2016.  This course is open to anyone who has studied with me and it will be an exploration of how we come into being: from conception to the first year of our life: and how this period is relevant, not just for maternity clients, but all clients. London Support group May 1st :
The next Well Mother Small Study Group will meet on Friday the 1st May2015, from 10.45am until 1.45pm at the Belgravia Surgery, 26 Eccleston St, London SW1W near Victoria station. The cost is £25.
The group will practice and revise any aspects of the Wellmother courses that you wish to re-visit or clarify. The agenda for the day is decided by the group on the day, based on what those attending want to study. There is a limit to 5 people attending the group.

For those of you who have kept asking me for the dates, I have now finalised the dates for the next UK course on Shiatsu and maternity care: originally Shiatsu for midwives. This course is for those of you who are not shiatsu practitioners, but who work in the maternity field who would like to add some shiatsu skills and awarenesses into your work.

I have decided to open module 3 of the shiatsu practitioners course to massage therapists. The first two days are for the mother. 

Massage therapists and midwives: Infant massage
New course starts in November in Bristol. We are now working with a nursery in North Bristol to offer placements for our students. See the news piece below. The nursery also wants pregnancy massage therapists.

I have decided to open module 2 of shiatsu practitioners course: birth module to those massage therapists who have done my  Pregnancy Diploma course.  It will be in June 2016.

Update on Module 3: Postnatal shiatsu for mother and baby 

I had the incorrect date on my website so this is now updated. It is June 25-28 in Bristol at the Centre for Whole Health. This is where I will now be teaching in Bristol, now that the Relaxation Centre is closed.

Foundation day: 29 May: Foundation day on Chong and Dai (Penetrating Vessel and Girdle Vessel) 1 day  125 euros
30 and 31 May  Shiatsu and the menopause: These days will look at both how to support clients who are going through the menopause and to introduce some of the work with the Wei and the Qiao mai: the second group of the 8 extraordinary vessels. It will extend your awareness of the role of the Ex vessels as well as the role of the other meridians.
2 days: € 250 To attend these you need to have already done the foundation day with Suzanne (either in Amsterdam or elsewhere). You can attend 29th as the foundation day.

Le but de ça c’est d’élever le profil de Well Mother et le shiatsu pour la maternité dans les pays francophones. J’espère que ça va vous motiver a terminer le travail écrit pour être inclus sur le registre de Well Mother des praticiens de Shiatsu. Die deutschsprachigen Seiten auf der Well Mother Website werden zur Zeit überarbeitet und in Kürze ausgebaut. Es wird mehr Informationen über Well Mother sowohl für Shiatsu-PraktikerInnen als auch für Eltern geben. Damit möchte ich Well Mother und Shiatsu in der Schwangerschaft in deutschsprachigen Ländern bekannter machen. Ich hoffe, damit auch einige unter euch zu motivieren, eure schriftlichen Arbeiten fertigzustellen und abzugeben, damit ich euch in die Liste der Well Mother PraktikerInnen aufnehmen kann.

Well Mother Pregnancy Massage Therapists needed near Clapham
Hi There,
 
My name is Emma and I am the owner and Chiropractor at Northcote Chiropractic Clinic (10 min walk from Clapham Junction). I hope you don’t mind I found your email on the wellmother website, as I have had one massage therapist in the past who did this training and she was fantastic! So much so, one of our current massage therapist has just completed the course and patient are loving her! So I am looking to find a similar practitioner.
 
The Clinic is located at the centre of ‘Nappy Valley’ and has been well established for 5 yrs. We are a family clinic that sees a lot of mums and soon-to-be mums. Our space is a bright bubble, which has newly been redecorated.  We have two lovely front desk staff, Marisa and Karina, who are polite, friendly and warm to clients/ patients of the clinic. The Clinic offers both Chiropractic and massage to clients. Both myself and the other chiropractor Delphine have a strong interest in helping women during and after pregnancy. I am a certified Webster technique practitioner (http://icpa4kids.com/about/webster_technique.htm).
 
What we are looking for is another massage therapist to join the team that can either work Tuesday 3-8pm, Thursday 9-1pm or 3-8pm, or Friday 2-7pm. These are the current shift that are available, due to one of your massage therapist leaving after having the 2nd child.  You would not need to be able to work all, just as long as you could work 2 shifts. Then please get in contact.
 
How we work? The clinic is a paperless clinic, which has an electronic system and offers on-line booking. The paperless system allows for you to work alongside our Chiropractors who refer patient to you to improve their care outcome. What you do very much so compliments chiropractic, so we work as a team with a patient. Our receptionist still do majority of the bookings so you don’t have to worry about bookings and we pay on a weekly basis. We work on a percentage basis between 50-60% of massage cost, so there is no room rental.  
 
What we are looking for? A confident passionate practitioner, who enjoys working with pregnancy but also seeing the husbands. You may be looking for a change in location, or maybe you would like to work less from home and ‘just turn up’ so to speak, with all the other work done for you by the clinic.

Well Mother Register
Thank you to all of you who have sent in updates to the register.  We have updated most of them. Just to remind you, if there are any changes to give us a few weeks, 
 
I am working to raise the profile of Well Mother work amongst the general public: and so it is important to have the register up to date. Thank you to those of you who have written in advising us of any changes.  Please do let us know if anything is not correct.

If you haven’t sent in your details and have completed your course work, please fill in the form as we would like to promote your work.

We try to update it every couple of months: so if there are mistakes do give it a little time before checking if they have been updated.

Infant massage and birth preparation/pregnancy massage opportunity in Bristol 
Anne Badger who teaches the infant massage course with me in Bristol has been teaching baby massage at a North Bristol nursery to keep a placement project open for our students.

Unfortunately this year’s group is not able to take over all the classes the nursery wants so we are looking for a qualified infant massage teacher to take over. We would like you to be prepared to let our November students shadow you, and possibly hand over some courses at some point: which won’t be till at least mid next year.

The nursery is also interested in offering some pregnancy massage sessions and running some birth preparation sessions.

If you are interested in either of these opportunities please contact me.
