Dear Friends of Allison Rimm and Associates,

Just about everyone I talk to lately feels like they are coming out of hibernation after record-breaking snowfalls that left everyone wishing they could crawl under the covers and come out when it's all over. As the thaw slowly continues, I'm excited to share some of what we've been up to here at ARA. We worked with a strategist - yes! a strategist hired an expert to help us with a rebranding exercise.  As the saying goes, "Even the finest wine can't see its own label from inside the bottle." So we got help to update our website to describe the diagnostics and services we provide and highlight some client success stories. Please take a moment to check out the new (and hopefully improved!) allisonrimm.com with many thanks to Ellie Boynton of Garnet Solutions and ARA Business Manager, Lauren Austin, for all their hard work and the patience it takes to get it right.

Not all of our winter news is ready for prime time, so stay tuned for another big announcement next month.

The Joy of... Resilience

You made it! Do you know anyone in  New England who hasn’t had a tough   winter? Just weathering the endless,  record-setting snowstorms and the  weeks of commuting horrors would  have been enough to wear anyone down. But it seems that an unusual number of people have weathered personal and professional storms as well, adding to the toll this winter has taken on these weary souls.

More than anything, though, I’m struck by just how optimistic and resilient most people have been. Rather than wallowing in their miseries, they’ve been telling wild stories of their adventures shoveling off their roofs or heartwarming tales of how neighbors took care of one another. Even those who spoke of their hours-long waits for buses to arrive in subfreezing temperatures did so with the spirit of warriors who had survived a battle to fight another day.

Business Coaching Shown to Yield an
Impressive Return on Investment

According to a recent Forbes.com article, a global survey conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Association Resource Centre found that the mean return on investment (ROI) in coaching was seven times the investment and over a quarter of coaching clients reported an impressive ROI of 10-49 times the cost.

This return helps explain the trend I've seen in my practice and reported
in Harvard Business Review's article, What Can Coaches Do for You?.  The majority of my executive coaching clients are high potential individuals whose employers are investing in their development so they can take on increasingly responsible roles or contribute more effectively in their current position. A decade ago, it was more common for coaches to be hired to help people who were falling short on the job. Now, rather than being seen as a symbol of the need to remediate poor performance, having a coach is more likely a signal that leadership values the executive enough to support their professional growth.
