Painting in Term 1

Life drawing with pencil & water colours
We have started the year with a colour explosion of flowers and water colours.
The children have been taking care with their observation of nature this term, taking the time to notice the different spaces and shapes created for example, pointy petals and curly leaves as well as the subtle differences in the colours. The children have focused on mixing their own colours and drawing what they can see.

We were lucky enough to have one of our gorgeous Japanese books translated this term - The Day the Wolf Flew by Miroco Machiko.

Craypa & water colour portraits
The children are working with their own imaginative ideas for their final artwork this term using acrylic paint on canvas. These artworks will be exhibited at our annual Nest Studio Mothers Day Exhibition on Sunday May 10, open from 2pm - 3pm, children can take their paintings home at 3pm.

We have art classes on Easter Saturday April 4 as well as during the following week, April 9 & 11.

Next Term
Sculpture April 30 - July 4
Next term we are focusing on sculpture, we primarily work with clay but also spend time with charcoals and other materials that work well in 3D like paper and plaster.

Holiday Workshop
SUN PRINTING
Tuesday 10am - 12:20pm April 21 | Limited placements
I can see here on the left a very young and adorable Simone, she is now at least 3 years older! which tells me we need to update our sun print photos pronto and have a sun printing workshop. We will be working with photo sensitive dyes, our ideas cut from paper and found objects to create bold and exciting artworks. The ink starts out clear and as it is exposed longer and longer to the sun the colour gets richer and richer - so much fun!

Adelaide Festival Writers Week Kids Weekend 2015
February 28 - March 1
Writers' Week Kids' Weekend was a roaring success - This year marks four years in a row that we have had a weekend of glorious sunshine, hundreds of happy children and their families, exciting authors & illustrators to listen to and meet and of course Nest Studio in full flight for two full days of printing & painting. Can't wait for 2016!
