UKAGP Newsletter - March 2015

Special Conference Edition

Spring time greetings to all!

With only a few short months to go until our residential conference, this edition of the newsletter is focused on our unfolding plans for the event, as well as saying hello to the new UKAGP administrator, Jen Clayton.

Do please take advantage of our early bird discounts and book your conference place this week!

This month, the Conference Organising Group met for the first time at the NCTL, the stunning venue for our summer residential conference in Nottingham.

Our group expresses optimism and excitement as the programme takes shape and at the prospect that we will achieve the aims and objectives for the conference: to provide a space where UKAGP members and guests can meet and engage with each other; to support education, research and clinical expertise in the field of Gestalt practice; and to represent the voice and interests of the UK Gestalt community in the UK and in the wider field.

I am delighted to see Dr Michael Clemmens and Hugh Pidgeon have agreed to be a part of our conference this year as a significant contribution to our aims - for more details, read on!

My wish is to be able see a rising interest in this opportunity for engagement and support over the coming months, culminating in our meeting in July.

We'll be sending regular updates about the conference programme as the process unfolds. Please read and comment on our conference progress in relation to our objectives by clicking on the link to the UKAGP website and by sending your words to conference@ukagp.org.uk.  We are interested to hear from you as we progress in our task this year.

Warmly,

Adam Smith
Deputy Chair of the Conference Organising Group (COG)

Pre-Conference Workshop

We are delighted to announce details of our pre-conference Workshop with Michael Clemmens.

Entitled "Creating the Present Situation through our Mutual Embodiment", the workshop will will explore how our somatic process (stance, movements, and gestures) create possibilities for connection and boundary simultaneously.

A specific focus will be on how we create inclusion and exclusion through somatic engagement.

The workshop will take place from 10am to 1pm on Friday 3rd July, at our conference venue, the National College for Teaching and Leadership, University of Nottingham.

There are limited spaces, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Please visit our website to view further details and book your place.

Call for Process Group Leaders

Have you ever considered facilitating a process or “home” group during a UKAGP Conference?

We are looking for facilitators for the 2015 UKAGP Conference in Nottingham, 3-5 July.

Whether you are a well practiced group facilitator, a new professional or trainee, UKAGP welcomes you.

We are keen to support those who have not previously led a process or home group. If you do not have previous experience we can pair you up with an experienced facilitator for this learning opportunity.

Publicity Roundup

The publicity group have been busy in the first few months of 2015 formulating and sharing details about our Summer residential conference “Engaging Our Community“.

We have created a LinkedIn Group named UKAGP 2015 Summer Residential Conference 3 - 5 July 2015 Nottingham, UK”, which we encourage you to join, and we’ll be looking to use other social media environments to help publicise the gathering. All details for the Conference can be found here.

In the coming weeks and months we will highlight additional details about the weekend structure, workshops and social events being organised.

If you have any comments that will help guide the Conference Organising Group, please email us at:

And don't forget to encourage your Gestalt colleagues and friends to join the conference!

Welcome to Our New Administrator

Hi, I'm Jen Clayton, the

new administrator for UKAGP.

I've recently taken over from Natasha in providing day-to-day support with UKAGP admin, membership enquiries, website updates and all things conference!

I thought it might be helpful for you to know a bit about me, so here goes...

My professional background is in digital marketing and website development. I currently work part-time for a print agency based in Nottinghamshire, and for several years I ran a small creative web agency in York, which gave me experience in business administration and devising systems within small organisations. I hope these skills will help me to further develop the infrastructure of the UKGAP as it continues to grow and diversify.

I'm hoping to begin training as a Gestalt psychotherapist in the next academic year, and am looking forward to mingling with so many experienced Gestalt practitioners as an intrinsic part of my new role!

In the coming weeks I'm going to be working with the committee to improve the newsletter. It would be great to hear from you about what you value about our mailings, as well as what you'd like to see more of or could live without. I really would value your feedback - the more honest the better.

If you need anything, you can reach me at the usual UKAGP admin email address: admin@ukagp.org.uk

I look forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks and months,

Best Wishes,

Jen Clayton
