 March 18
“Jesus Comes to Die”
 March 25
“Jesus Comes to Save”

We have seen Christ challenge with his call to repentance and the words ‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’ Today the true nature of Jesus’ mission is revealed. He has come to die to save the world from sin. Nothing anyone says or does will keep him from his mission. Come join us for these powerful evening services, with time for prayer, dramatic sharing, and personal reflection.  There will be a light supper preceding the service, provided by Laura & Mark Cunningham, our LS Food Resource chefs. Check out the Menu here

THRIVENT MESSAGE

Thanks be to God!  If you are a Thrivent member, you probably have free “Thrivent choice dollars” for support of God’s work here at Living Springs!  This is totally free money made available to you by Thrivent to designate to support a congregation (or other organization).  The amount of your “choice dollars” is based on your existing policies or investments – you don’t have to buy anything new!  Just log on or send in a paper form to complete the process .  Choice dollars will expire March 31 (poof – gone!), and if not used, it will be a wasted opportunity to provide free funds for God’s work at LS.  If anyone needs assistance in completing the donation process, simply contact Karen Kranz.  We don’t want to miss out on this potential for hundreds & thousands of free ministry dollars!

Thrivent Event:

Godspell at Trustus Theater on Saturday, March 28 at 2 pm

Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life.
There are a few tickets left – will need your check or money by March 23.  Checks should be made out to Midlands SC Chapter – Thrivent.  Tickets are $10 – doors open at 1 pm.  Contact Karen Kranz for information.

Lessons for Sunday, March 22

First Reading: Jeremiah 31:31–34

The Judeans in Babylon blamed their exile on their ancestors, who had broken the covenant established at Sinai. Here the prophet looks to a day when God will make a new covenant with the people. There will be no need to teach the law, because God will write it on their hearts.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 51:1–12

Create in me a clean heart, O God. (Ps. 51:10)

Second Reading: Hebrews 5:5–10

Using priestly imagery and references to the Old Testament, the author explains how Christ lived in trusting obedience to God, and so God has made Christ the source of our eternal salvation.

Gospel: John 12:20–33

Jesus entered Jerusalem for the last time to celebrate the Passover festival. Here Jesus' words about seeds planted in the ground turn the disaster of his death into the promise of a harvest in which everyone will be gathered.
