Birds and Butterflies give our gardens wings. Join Master Gardener Martha Smith to learn simple practices that can help maximize the number and variety of these treasures in our garden. We will cover basics, including which plants are most likely to draw these lovely visitors.

Knox College students make up the majority of assemblers of the many bags of food that provide weekend meals for CUSD 205 low-income elementary students. Due to college spring break, extra help is needed

 Volunteers are needed to assist with this hands-on simulation that gives young people the opportunity to explore career opportunities, lifestyle, and budget choices similar to those adults face. Sponsored by University of Illinois Extension, the Welcome to the Real World event will take place on

University of Illinois Extension/4-H has a variety of volunteer opportunities, including for STEM (Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Teens as Teachers programs and for mentors to help with teen efforts to battle hunger. 4-H is also seeking volunteers who have hobbies that they would want to share with youth (i.e., photography, gardening, art). Adult Literacy Tutors needed. Our partners at adult literacy programs at Scott Community College (West Davenport Center) and Black Hawk College (L.I.F.E.) are seeking volunteers to tutor adults who would like to get their GED (now called HiSet in Iowa), become better parents or grandparents, or achieve more gainful employment.

Language tutors and Math tutors are both needed.
Scheduling is flexible. Training and support are provided. Interested? Call 309-793-4425

Bettendorf Schools is seeking volunteers to teach Junior Achievement life skill lessons to 3rd- and 4th-grade students. Scheduling is flexible, but volunteers would need to commit to teaching one lesson per week, for 5-7 weeks. All training and materials are provided. Interested? Call 309-793-4425

25 Years in the Quad Cities: Serving single-parent families without homes 

  • Offering opportunities for growth and development
  • Leading families into self-sufficient living

This great organization has helped over 777 families experiencing homelessness in the Quad Cities, including over 1,539 children.

It is seeking a volunteer or two that can volunteer for general clerical (answering phones, filing, data entry, etc.). If you'd like more information, 309-793-4425 jross@wiaaa.org

Friendly folks needed to greet attendees of a conference (National Association of Branch Campus Administrators) in downtown Davenport. Volunteers would be stationed outside at various locations between the Hotel Blackhawk and Figge to direct attendees.

This could be a great way to spend an hour and share your love of the QCA!
