World War I: Massive naval attack in Battle of Gallipoli. Three battleships are sunk during a failed British and French naval attack on the Dardanelles.

World War I : A German Zeppelin made a night raid on a railway station in Paris
 
New to the Collection
WWPL Receives Donation
 
The WWPL recently received a donation of six items from the collection of Helen Silha of Minneapolis, MN. Included in the donation and pictured here are a photo of Wilson as president, a propaganda poster from WWI, and a commemorative print of him from 1920. Also included in the donation is a rare print of Woodrow Wilson meeting Pope Benedict at the Vatican in 1919.

Teacher Workshop

Planned

 
July 8th, 9 am – 3 pm
 
The WWPL in partnership with the Virginia War Memorial is planning a teacher workshop Wednesday, July 8th from 9 am – 3 pm at the Library.  The workshop, “Bring World War I Alive in Your Classroom”, will feature Edward G. Lengel an American military historian, author, and professor at the University of Virginia as guest speaker.
