Here comes the Spring-tour!

Cristina's tour with the Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma has been acclaimed by both critics and audiences. The Chicago Tribune review said:

“None of them commanded attention quite as boldly as Silk Road’s single female member, Cristina Pato, doubling on gaita (Galician bagpipes) and piano in “The Latina 6/8 Suite,” a frisky quadripartite piece that links original music by Edward Perez with traditional folk material from Spain and Latin America, all of it in 6/8 time.(...)",

And the Boston Classical Review:

"Christina Pato’s splendid performance on the gaita, the Galician bagpipes, brought energy and enthusiasm to the performance. Her technique on the instrument is dazzling, and her serpentine melodic line floated gracefully over the punchy rhythms supplied by the Silk Road bass and percussion. Pato was equally adept at the piano, her jazzy melodies sounding svelte over the glassy string and wind harmonies.(...)"

The Galician TV channel TVG didn't want to miss out the first time a Galician bagpipe sounded with the NY Philharmonic, so they cover the news, and you can watch the video here →

Now, Cristina sets sail again for her USA Spring Tour that will take her and her band to
Washington DC, Frostburg, Sonoma, Santa Barbara and San Antonio.

The program includes Emilio Solla’s A Galician Voyage: Concerto for Bagpipes, Piano & Orchestra (the american name for the concerto premiered last November in Barcelona), commissioned by Cristina for her Gaita and Orchestra Commissioning Project.
