APRIL 2015

Get Blitzed!
Runners Rosanna Eubank-Dude, left, and Olivia Herr head toward the finish line in the 2014 Black Fly Blitz.

Don’t delay. Register today on-line or by mail for the Black Fly Blitz on Memorial Day, May 25. If you sign up by May 1, you’ll get a free T-shirt. To encourage more walkers and runners to participate, we’ve lowered the entry fee this year. We’ve scheduled fun activities and live music, too. [More]

Join the WCA today
The WCA brings neighbors together by providing facilities for educational, social, and recreational programs. We recently mailed our 2015 membership request. The memberships are pouring in! That’s fabulous! Won’t you help support an institution that’s been fostering community spirit in Wilmot for more than 50 years? Please take a minute to complete the form you received and send it in with your payment. Thank you. [More]

Free movie on Friday

Who doesn’t love a movie classic? The WCA – in partnership with the Wilmot Public Library – will show one of the best at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3 at the Red Barn. Come enjoy a free family-friendly movie. The film includes a scene with an extraterrestrial visitor on a flying bicycle. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Free popcorn, too! [More

Thank you!
At town meeting last month, 110 people voted yes to approve the WCA’s request for $4,500. Thank you to all those intrepid voters who stayed to the end of the meeting to show your unanimous support for the WCA.

Got Grit?
More than 40 parents and teachers attended Got Grit? on March 19. Amy Lyon, Wilmot resident and a fifth-grade teacher at Sutton Central School, focused on practical ways for parents to help their children – age 9 to 18 – to set goals. Learn more about Amy’s Grit Project.

The WCA is hosting an Environmental Workshop for preschool and kindergarten teachers. Sponsored by the New England Field Office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Workshop will introduce participants to two programs, Growing Up WILD: Exploring Nature with Young Children and Environmental Experiences. These two programs foster critical early childhood skill development while tapping into children’s sense of wonder about nature and the wildlife around them.  [More]

Thank you, David White
David White, who recently retired after 15 years as Wilmot's police chief, accepts a plaque and congratulations from Mary Kay Huntoon, a member of the Wilmot Board of Selectmen.

More than 200 people thronged the Wilmot Community Association's (WCA) Red Barn the afternoon of Sunday, March 22. The event was organized by David Zuger, police officer in Wilmot, and hosted by the WCA. The Wilmot Volunteer Fire Department's Auxiliary prepared a sumptuous buffet.
