English Tourism Week

On Friday 20 March Bournemouth MPs Conor Burns and Tobias Ellwood showed their commitment to the town’s tourism industry by getting ‘hands on’ at two Bournemouth hotels for Tourism Constituency Day, part of VisitEngland’s English Tourism Week which ran last week from 14 to 22 March.

Conor honed his culinary skills with the Connaught Hotel’s head chef and visited hospitality students at Bournemouth and Poole College, while Tobias Ellwood surprised guests by serving afternoon teas and drinks at the Marsham Court Hotel.

How well do you know your customers?

Visitors to Bournemouth are changing. Take families; some 47 per cent of groups staying at a seaside destination include children, so understanding what these groups require is crucial. But the customary two-adults-two-kids unit is in decline, while single parent families and inter-generational trips are on the increase prompting a demand in flexible, last minute bookings.

Tdoay’s visitors - families, retirees, empty-nesters, pre-family and business travellers – have niche requirements. Find out what they expect by reading our visitor profiles and top ten tips for keeping them happy.
