Field Monitoring Support and Monitoring Toolkit
As part of a two-year project funded by OFDA, the global-level CPWG is working on a two-tiered project to strengthen child protection coordination monitoring: 1. Field monitoring support in emergencies, 2. Development of a child protection situation and response monitoring toolkit for humanitarian settings.
In 2014 excellent progress was made, and missions were undertaken to each of the four participating countries (CAR, DRC, Mali, and South Sudan). Burkina Faso joined the project in response to demand. Mission reports can be read here. At the end of the year each of the participating countries had developed action plans to improve monitoring and 2015 will see the implementation of these plans.
The second year will see a slight modification of the initial plan. Support missions to each country need to be longer than was envisaged in order to work effectively with partners and at sub-national level and to achieve the agreed goals for each mission. Of the five participating countries three were prioritized for in-country support: Burkina Faso, CAR, and South Sudan. The other countries will continue to receive support throughout the year to facilitate the implementation of the monitoring plan, strengthen IM capacity and, as participating countries, monitoring training (late 2015/early 2016).
The monitoring toolkit training will be based on the first version of the inter-agency monitoring toolkit. It will be further piloted in humanitarian settings and adjusted based on extensive field-testing.
