Bootless Stageworks proudly presents two breathtaking performances of the 1986 West End hit musical, Chess. With lyrics by Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita) and music by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA (Mama Mia) and featuring some of the finest regional talent including Rick Fountas (Freddie), Michael Poposvsky (Anatoly), Marnie Kanarek (Florence), Jennie Knackstedt (Svetlana), Peter Campbell (Molokov), Dan Urdeneta (Walter) and Justin Walsh (Arbiter), as well as a 12 member chorus and 28 member orchestra, and performed as a semi-staged concert similar in style to the 2009 Royal Albert Hall concert starring Josh Groban and Idina Menzel, this is an event not to be missed.
Chess tells the fictional story of a romantic triangle between American Chess Grandmaster Freddie Trumper, Soviet Chess Grandmaster Anatoly Sergievsky, and Florence Vassy, a woman who manages one and falls in love with another. Although the protagonists were not intended to represent any specific individuals, the characters are inspired by American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer, and Russian Grandmasters, Victor Korchnoi and Anatoly Karpov.

Chess in Concert is being performed in the sanctuary of St. Stephen's Church. Seating is General Admission. Doors open at 7:15 pm to allow audience members time to tour our new theater home, purchase raffle tickets or sign-up to become a Bootless volunteer.
