Spring Forward to Honor Club

As we have just completed the first six months of our quest for all Optimist Clubs in the Pacific Northwest District achieving Honor Club this 2014-15 Optimist year, we have made significant progress toward our goal.

PNW Honor Roll Continues
Recognition with big pats on the back for the following clubs for achieving the initial phase of increased membership by at least a plus one for the optimistic year:
Zone 1 - BC             Zone 2 - ID                  Zone 3 - OR             Zone 4- WA
Vancouver North      Middleton Area +8        Gresham +5             Vancouver +2
Shore +1                 Jerome +2                   Portland NE +3         Issaquah +1
North                       Twin Falls +4               Newport-                  Fairbanks +1
Okanagan +2            Nampa +1                   Yaquina Bay +1       Centralia-
                               Caldwell +1                                                 Chehalis +2

We now have 14 of 45 clubs leading the way toward our PNW District Honor Club goal. 31% of the district's clubs are at a plus one or better. That's outstanding!

Now let's shoot for an intermediate goal of 50% Honor Clubs by April 30. That means 23 clubs must have plus one or more by that date. In order to achieve that goal, we need 9 more Optimist Clubs to set forth on the path to Honor Club. Since there are 13 clubs that have made no changes in their rosters this year, this intermediate goal is within reach.

More important, our final goal of 100% Honor Clubs by September 30 is in reach as well.  It's a simple way to show your club's commitment to its community. You can do it. You can achieve Honor Club!

When we assemble for the 3rd Quarter Conference in Kennewick on May 15-16, 2015, we will all be eager to support the oratorical, CCDHH and essay contests as well as celebrate our fantastic Honor Club status.

Your enthusiasm helps us increase our impact as    F-R-I     E-N-D    of    Y-O-U-T-H.

Reservations: 1-800-Redlion
Code: OPTI0515 by May 1, 2015

Join the PNW Optimist Clubs for the finals of the Optimist Oratorical Contest and the Communications Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. It's a favorite meeting for inspiration and hands-on participation with students. The topic this year is "How my optimism will help me press on to greater achievements of the future."

Steve Skodak, Executive Director, Optimist International Foundation will join us for this meeting. It is a great opportunity to see firsthand how the Foundations help Optimist Clubs help children.

The PNW District is a pioneer in providing a separate scholarship for deaf students who speak. In order to fulfill this commitment, the district must raise $2,500 over and above normal Foundation contributions. To date, $200 has been received from Ray and Shirley Hilts and the Optimist Club of Albany.

Your contributions are welcome, appreciated and needed. Please mail to District S/T Emma Ball, 109 Sunnyside Drive, Centralia, WA 98531. Thank you.
