Welcome to 1979 7th Anniversary Party

May 2nd, 2015, 8pm

Congratulations to Chris Mara and the rest of the crew at Welcome to 1979 on their 7th anniversary! To commemorate the occasion, they're hosting a Chili Experience party. "That's right, we've been making noise as Welcome to 1979 for 7 years now, and what better way to celebrate than with our friends and a little competition? All you need to do is show up ready- and BYOB if you're feeling particularly thirsty!"

Location: Welcome to 1979
1110 48th Avenue North
Nashville, TN 37209
http://www.welcometo1979.com/

As part of the Chili Experience, there will be a chili competition! For more information about the festivities, see the announcement here.

Five years!

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recently observed its 5th anniversary and released a sweet time-lapse video to commemorate the event.

Much like the SDO, the MSP Audio Geeks celebrated our 5th anniversary this March. Unlike the SDO, there are no stunning images set to peaceful music but you might enjoy this video instead.

On a personal note I would like to thank everyone who has attended and hosted our meetups, taught us something, spread the word about us, and joined in the camaraderie. Out of a conversation with Kelly Pieklo and Jason Miller we have grown into a true community of enthusiastic audio geeks. It is because of your interest, support, and willingness to share that we mark this milestone. Thanks for hanging out with me!
Carly

Employment Opportunities

We stumbled across a couple different job postings, and wanted to pass them along here. Good luck!

Helping one of our own

You may remember Corey Schreppel, the Wits Technical Director, from such meetups as our November 2014 meetup. Corey's father, George, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) last summer. Some major modifications must be made to the home he shares with his wife Tammy and daughter Brittany. In order to accomplish this they are asking for help via Go Fund Me. You can read the full story and donate to the campaign here: http://www.gofundme.com/georgeschreppel. We wish George, Tammy, Corey, and Brittany all the best.
