Portland has been an inspiration for many artists and writers, there's something about the rugged beauty of the island, it's excavation over the centuries and unique geology that triggers the imagination.

The Loss Adjusters is a brand new audio work created by artist Katrina Palmer for Portland. Equipped with headsets visitors are taken a a journey through Portland listening to stories about the primal forces of the island’s geology, a young offender turned gravedigger and the eccentric daughters of a dead quarryman.

Selected from over 1500 proposals artist Katrina Palmer's brand new work in three parts will open on Portland on 26 April. Commissioned by internationally renowned arts organization Artangel and BBC Radio 4 and presented on Portland in association with b-side. For more information click here.
