Hello Milwaukee,
I'm Dori Zori, your weekday on-air hostess from 9am to noon, which I've started calling the Musical Brunch. Not sure if that's gonna stick, I'm open to suggestions.
As temperatures warm up, I leave my couch times behind and start going out more. And boy oh boy...are there a lot of great things going on in our great city. April 11th, I'm so excited to see my brother-from-another-mother Jordan Lee's orchestral extravaganza "Jones Uncovered" at Alverno Presents. It's a musical journey spanning six decades of Quincy's career. Will there be Michael Jackson? You will have to show up to find out.
Then, help me celebrate music, art and community in my favorite zip code with Milwaukee Day (4/14...get it?) Party at City Hall with food, music and fun. There's even a pre-Milwaukee Day park cleanup on April 12.
Warmer temps also bring on the start of the outdoor market season in Milwaukee. One of my favorite markets pops up in the Bay View Colectivo parking lot the first Sunday of every month, starting in May.
Finally, Don't forget to check out my new web series, "DoriZoriStories" where I chat with some of my favorite people who call Milwaukee home.

The United Performing Arts Fund started in the 1960's, when a group of Milwaukee's elders got together to discuss the future of arts in Milwaukee. Fast forward to today, UPAF is the largest donor to 15 of it's main Member Groups. Read more here.

For the first time in more than a decade, a new permanent exhibit is open to the public at the Milwaukee Public Museum. " Crossroads of Civilization" explores how the ancient civilizations of Africa, Europe and Asia came together to form an epicenter of complex culture, creating not just a physical crossroads, but an intellectual one as well.

80's Electronica Night | Club Anything | Sat. April 4th
They won't just be spinning "Thriller" or "Papa Don't Preach" all night, they're gonna get weird. Like Klaus Nomi weird. Like Thomas Dolby weird. It's gonna be pretty radical. If, for any reason, you happen to have some Zubas or some jelly shoes/bracelets, it's time to bust them out. Neon pants? Ocean Pacific shirt? Members Only jacket? It's time! More info here. |
