Here's outstanding news! County Executive Isiah Leggett announced his recommendations for Montgomery County’s FY16 Operating Budget, recommending a flat appropriation for the arts and humanities. Given low tax revenues and other constraints and challenges on the County’s budget overall, we are pleased that the arts and humanities budget was not diminished. You can check out my reaction to the budget here and get the full breakdown of the proposed budget on our blog.

As always, we must continue our advocacy efforts and encourage the County Council to adopt the budget County Executive Ike Leggett has recommended. Let the County Executive and County Council know how much you appreciate their support of the arts and humanities. Our report,  the Strength of the Creative Economy is full of data that will certainly power all of our collective advocacy efforts.

In this current economy that is still in recovery, we are truly fortunate that Montgomery County recognizes the importance of the creative and cultural sector through this critical investment.  Thank you all for supporting the local arts and humanities. Onward!

Warmly,

Suzan Jenkins, CEO
Arts & Humanities Council
