To the dads, uncles, grandfathers and all the REAL MEN that came out and read to the students for REAL MEN Read Week. We appreciate all of you taking a few minutes out of your daily schedule to share a treasurable moment with our children here at NDLA I and II as well as NDLC.

The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.  The 2015 Week of the Young Child™ is April 12th–18th. NDLA is proud to be one of the organizations that meet these needs!

In tribute to the Week of the Young Child, NDLA is offering face painting for the low cost of $5.00. Please stop by the front desk at your child's daycare to sign up and to find out more information. For more information on the Week of the Child, please visit the following web site http://www.naeyc.org/woyc .

SPRING BREAK!!!

For the Week of April 3rd - April 10th PFA will be closed for Spring Break. School is still in session, it just means those who are in the Preschool For All Program will not have a teacher for PFA just their regular classroom teacher.

TARDINESS

It has been brought to our attention that some parents have not been abiding by the policy and protocols regarding bringing your child to school in a timely manner. At NDLA I, NDLA II, and NDLC if your child is not in attendance at school by 9:00 A.M they will not be allowed to attend school that day.

Tardiness causes distractions and disruptions and it takes away from other students' education who arrive on time. Please take this into consideration. "We are the place where learning comes first."

ATTENTION PARENTS:

PLEASE DO NOT BRING THE CHILDREN INSIDE THE BUILDING WITH FOOD AND DRINKS. THE CHILD/CHILDREN MUST FINISH ALL EDIBLE OR DRINKABLE ITEMS BEFORE ENTERING THE BUILDING. FOOD ITEMS THAT ARE NOT PURCHASED BY NDLA WILL BE TRASHED. ADDITIONALLY, DO NOT REMOVE NDLA FOOD ITEMS FROM THE BUILDING.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND COOPERATION

Please join the staff and students of NDLA as we participate in Screen Free week (TV Turn Off Week) from May 4th through May 10th. It is our hope that you will carry this over into your homes. Take the time to experience new activities with your children. For some ideas and additional information please visit www.screenfree.org.

ZOO FOR ALL

PFA will be going on a field trip to the Brookfield Zoo April 24th. Students should report to school no later than 8:45 A.M to ensure all students are in attendance and can go. Please pack your students a bag lunch; lunch will not be served. NO cans or glass.  If you provide your child with money to buy souvenirs their teacher is not responsible for lost or stolen money.

'THIS IS MY SEASON'

The Spring Program this year will take place April 1st at Thornridge High School beginning at 6:30 P.M. NDLA WILL BE CLOSING AT 3:00 PM AND YOUR CHILD SHOULD BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN 3:00 P.M WEDNESDAY.  Please be sure your children are present for line up and rehersal no later than 6:00pm in the Rotunda Auditorium. HAPPY BIRTHDAY APRIL BABIES!!!

Friends, family, and Staff want to wish all the April Shower babies a wonderful and prosperous birthday. We thank them for preparing us for a blessed Spring and a warm and exciting Summer!

Blessed Be the Lord our Savior

In observance of Good Friday, on Friday April 3, 2015 NDLA will be closed. All locations will be closed on Friday and will reopen Monday April 6th. We want to wish everyone a safe and blessed Easter holiday.

Jeremiah 9:23-24: Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

PLEASE BE ADVISED
We have mentioned that the fire lane is for EMERGENCY ONLY. Parents continuing to park in the fire lane are blocking other parents from dropping off or picking up their child. We are one big family and for each location to run smoothly we ask that you PLEASE DO NOT PARK OR DOUBLE PARK in the fire lanes. It causes congestion and only makes picking up your child more difficult.

We Just Want To Say Thank You

NDLA I, II and NDLC would like to extend a special thanks to all of our parents during our childcare funding crisis. We want to say thank you for being patients and understanding. We want to thank you all for the numerous donations and understanding of extra monetary donations to sustain our daily services. We appreciate your continued business and we look forward to better serving the needs of your child. Again, THANK YOU
As a reminder, out of consideration for the students, staff and parents of NDLA, we ask that you refrain from using your cell phone while in the center. There have been a few incidents of inappropriate language and conversations overheard by students. While we are sure the individuals did not intend for the situation to occur, this could have been avoided had they complied with the no cell phone request.
Graduation is coming next month! Invitations are being sent out to all eligible Kindergarten students. Graduation contracts for participation are being distributed this month. If your child has been invited and you want them to participate, please sign and return the Graduation contract before Friday, April 10, 2015. As a reminder, by signing the Kindergarten Graduation contract you will be held responsible for the Graduation fees. The fees for Graduation will be due no later than Monday, May 4, 2015. The ceremony will take place Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM. All graduates MUST be in attendance by 10:00 AM.

REMINDER - Children are required to attend a minimum of 80% of the service days each month. This is to ensure they receive the best possible education available with NDLA. Any child that falls below 80% may be interrupted due to lack of attendance. Please report any absences due to illness, injury or vacation to the front office with documentation.
Parents, please help us to ensure we are delivering the best possible care for your child. We have placed a Parent Suggestion box by the front office. Feel free to submit questions, comments, suggestion and concerns so that we can continue to improve the quality of services we provide to you and your family!

In an effort to improve our website, there is also a "Parent Testimonial" box located next to the ProCare sign-in system. We are asking how can we better serve your child's needs as well as how you think we have been doing. Please feel free to jot down anything you feel is appropriate in letting other families know how well our services are. We appreciate your commentary and positive comments regarding our services.

Account Balances

Please remember: In order to avoid late fees and incurring fees you can always make payments via our website at:
http://www.nurturingdevelopment.com
Also, keep in mind that you are welcome to make payments anytime; not just at the end of the month for copayments and fees.
In the navigation bar click Contact US. Under 'contact us' there will be options to pay for each location. PLEASE be sure to Click on the location YOUR CHILD ATTENDS to avoid confusion.

It's almost time for Summer Camp! Enrollment begins Monday, April 13th for all children that are potty trained and 3 years old and up. Summer Camp is on a first come first serve basis, spaces are limited - see the front desk to enroll your child today. You must sign your Summer Camp contract to ensure enrollment. Contracts are being distributed this month. Enrollment ends Friday, May 15th.
As summer approaches children will be going outside more. When dressing your child, please keep in mind that children wearing flip flops or open toed shoes will not be able to participate in outside activities for safety reasons. You are always welcome to leave your child a pair of gym shoes on site, just in case.

We still Need YOUR HELP...

Many of you know or have heard about the budgeting crisis and what the governor of Illinois has decided. In efforts to maintain and sustain child care services NDLA has asked parents for small bi-weekly monetary contributions as well as donations. We want to express how every thankful we are at how cooperative our parents have been during this crisis that affects us all. Please continue making contributions and donations the best way you can. Again, we thank you very much for all of your cooperation, support, and determination in helping keep our services available to all our families.
