Piero Fornasetti lived and worked in Milan from 1935 until his death in 1988. During his long career, he established an enduring reputation as a designer with a style that was distinctly his own.
19th century operatic soprano Lina Cavalieri, was the face behind the man and became the iconic motif used in more than 500 variations. His style was also heavily influenced by Greek and Roman architecture.
Today, Fornasetti’s work is more popular than ever and continues to delight and inspire designers and collectors. His use of allusion and whimsy is evident in his vast array of unique objects - from hats to ocean liners.
