A GLASS EPIC
From Roland Peelman | Artistic Director
Knock, knock, who’s there? Philip Glass has been called the most iconic composer of the late 20th century, yet he has also been derided as someone who chose success over substance, quantity over quality, and business nous over artistic integrity.

MEET OUR ARTIST OF THE WEEK:
LISA MOORE
I am hugely looking forward to playing the Opus 54 Beethoven piano sonata at the Fitters’ Workshop. CIMF always brings some of the greatest players together, and I’m keen to catch up with Tor Fromhyr, Alex Ranieri, Stephanie McCallum, and of course Roland. I’ve performed in four previous Festivals, and in 2008 I curated the Sounds Alive CIMF series of twelve concerts at the Street Theatre. While I’m back in Canberra I would particularly like to visit the National Portrait Gallery.

Pianist Lisa Moore has been widely praised for her expressive virtuosity and her adventurous collaborations with a diverse range of musicians and artists. Described as “beautiful, impassioned; brilliant and searching” in The New York Times, she has performed in some of the world’s great concert halls, such as La Scala, Carnegie Hall and the Musikverein in Vienna. Originally from Canberra, Lisa has been based in New York City since 1985.
