 Bikes, Youth, & You!
Welcome to the April edition of the Open Roads Newsletter. So many fantastic things have been happening with Open Roads lately and we want to share them with you. We also want to give you all some opportunities to join in on the fun!
Meet the Open Roads Youth Advisory Board:
Open Roads is proud to introduce the Youth Advisory Board! This group of six exists to empower youth to use their voices to create positive changes in the Kalamazoo community through the Open Roads mission. These youth, ages 14-17, applied and interviewed for this unique leadership opportunity. Throughout the year they partner with and advise Open Roads staff and board members about programs, events, fundraising, and more. They also plan and implement special projects as they see fit.
We believe in the abilities of youth to take responsibility if they’re given the opportunity, and we believe their contribution makes us a stronger organization.
Spring Earn-a-Bike Programs & New Staff:
Spring Earn-a-Bike programs are starting up and the Open Roads team couldn't be more excited! In fact, we hired three more instructors to join in on all the fun: Christine Uggeri (top center) Keith Heatherly (bottom left) and Amy Alexander (bottom right). They will be joining us in leading spring programs at Lakeside Academy, El Sol Elementary, Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home, and Portage Community Center!

Join us for a fundraiser to support Open Roads on Saturday, May 16th
