Celebration of Books 2015
On Wednesday, April 29 the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and the U of T Mississauga Library is co-hosting its 2nd annual Celebration of Books. Contact car.demarco@utoronto.ca if you are a UTM researcher who published a book between 2013-15 and were not a part of last year's celebration.

  • The work of Professor Ron Buliung and collaborators Raktim Mitra (Ryerson) and Guy Faulkner and their study on kids' physical health was featured on CBC News and also picked up by CBC's Metro Morning radio program.
Institute for Management & Innovation Library / Visual Studies
  • Visual Resource Librarian Harriet Sonne de Torrens co-authored, “Librarians in a Litigious Age and the Attack on Academic Freedom,” with Mary Kandiuk in Current Issues in Library, Information Science and Related Fields. Advances in Librarianship 39. Ed. Anne Woodsworth and W. David Penniman. Bingley: Emerald, 2015. 
  • Harriet Sonne de Torrens also published the article "Une proclamation de foi: les retables commandés au XVIIe siècle  par le prieur Vincent Royer pour l’Abbaye prémontrée de Beauport" in Histories de Bretagnes 5.

Mathematical & Computational Sciences
  • Professor Ilia Binder has been promoted to the rank of full Professor effective July 1, 2015. He has made important contributions in many areas of mathematical analysis, most notably geometric function theory, its applications to mathematical physics and the study of its computational complexity aspects.
  • Professor Daniel Wigdor was awarded a 2015 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship. The Sloan Research Fellowships are extraordinarily competitive awards that recognize early-career scientists and scholars of outstanding promise in the United States and Canada. Professor Wigdor works in the field of Human-Computer Interaction, seeking to "seamlessly blend the physical and digital worlds," in particular by improving the responsiveness of touch screens.
