GOVERNMENT NEWS:
  • Immigration
More immigrants chose to make NS home last year than at any time in the last 10 years, with 2,661 settling in our province. They are also choosing to stay in Nova Scotia – we have our highest retention rate in recent history.  The province has also raised the provincial nominee cap by 50%.

How can you help? Talk positively about immigration, welcome newcomers into your home, place of business and your community!
  • Loan Forgiveness Program
Nova Scotia is changing its debt cap program to the Nova Scotia Loan Forgiveness Program. Nova Scotia undergraduate students who graduate within a reasonable time can have their entire provincial loan forgiven – saving them up to $15,000.

Program changes will help students with permanent disabilities. Currently, students need to complete their studies within four years to qualify for maximum assistance. Students with permanent disabilities will now have 10 years.

For more information on student assistance in Nova Scotia, please go to http://www.novascotia.ca/studentassistance/
